How to remove front air dams?

Did anyone feel a difference of on-road stability between these two types of front air dams ??
Do you know what markets those straight down air dams are used in? Those could be nice with the lip cut to cover that area to keep air from going in and causing noise and turbulence.

Some of you guys are far beyond the point of overthinking the air dams.

Remove them and put them in the garbage. You will not miss them re mpg, stability, appearance, etc.
How can I like this post 25 times?
 
Post air dams removal MPG: 21.78 MPG. 1,000 miles of driving in summer conditions, with about 60% highway and 40% city. Comparable period last year with air dam: 22.02. No regrets about removing them at all whatsoever.
 
I removed mine. I’ve seen a lot of pics where people left them.
There’s a little bit of a trick to it that I can’t remember right now.
Once you get the first one out and see how they clip in, the rest will go really quick.
 
did you all remove the white clips that were left behind after the air dam removal (assuming they can be removed)?
It has been a hot minute since I removed mine, but I know I left anything that was flush, and reinserted anything the fit flush once removed.

I have the wedge portions of the dam on my desk at work as an example of over-engineering something
 
I left them but if anyone can elaborate on the trick I'd happily remove them.
 
Primarily to improve fuel efficiency (0.5 to 2 MPG) and reduce road/wind noise. They also improve high speed stability and engine cooling to some extent.

I suspect Toyota has never gone on the record to specifically state the purpose of this individual part, but air damns are ubiquitous and their purpose is to control the airstream around the vehicle. The objective is to increase fuel efficiency by reducing drag.

It’s kind of like saying “the primary purpose of the tire is to create traction for the wheel;” I don’t think Toyota is on the record but I’m safe to assert the purpose of a tire.

No source required. I took mine off and immediately experienced a small decrease in fuel efficiency and a noticeable increase in turbulence in the front wheel wells. I don’t know about their claim to a specific loss in mpg (which may have driven your comment for a source), but I would bet mine was about 1/2mpg. I’d do it again tomorrow.
 
I get the general notion of efficiency but specific numbers were cited which I was curious about. And I saw high speed stability and engine cooling called out as well. Which led me to ask for a source to understand if that’s accurate or a guess.

Anyway just got rid of mine before my odometer hit 300 miles. Subtle but looks substantially better. I tested the same roads before and after and couldn’t perceive any turbulence in the wheel well at all. I assume there will be a small hit on the already bad fuel efficiency.

Oh haha I’m sorry I totally misunderstood you then! I’m always a proponent for asking for proof of claims.
