Hello everyone,

I own a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 150 KDJ155, short wheelbase (3-door), 3.0 D-4D, 5-speed automatic transmission, without KDSS or air suspension.

I'm considering the following suspension setup:

Front springs: King Springs KHFR-168

Rear springs: King Springs KTRS-102

Front shocks: KONI RAID 88-1712SP3

Rear shocks: KONI RAID 90-5404LSP3 (left) and 90-5404RSP3 (right)

KONI has already confirmed the shocks are compatible with my vehicle. I'm currently looking for real-world feedback on this specific setup, particularly on the short-wheelbase model without KDSS.

My vehicle is used 80% on-road and 20% off-road. It sometimes carries five people and their luggage, and I occasionally tow a trailer, sometimes a heavy one.

My priorities are:

Driving comfort on normal roads

Ride height close to the original, without excessive lifting

Good stability and limited sag under load or when towing

Satisfactory suspension travel and off-road performance

Could someone using this configuration, or a very similar one, share their experience?

More specifically, I would like feedback on:

Actual front and rear ride heights before and after installation.

Driving comfort when empty.

Road handling and body roll.

Handling with passengers, luggage, or a trailer.

Performance on rough roads and moderate off-road trails.

Potential issues with suspension travel or the KONI RAID shocks.

I would also be interested in photos, measurements, videos, or recommendations from a suspension specialist who has installed this setup on a short-wheelbase Prado 150 without KDSS.

I understand that other versions of the Prado 150 may use different springs; feedback regarding the short-wheelbase model would therefore be particularly helpful.

Thank you in advance for your advice and experiences.

Welcome! There are very few J150 owners here (probably less than a half dozen), so you may not get much platform specific feedback. I would look at the specs on down travel changes (that’s one of the most common downsides to suspension “upgrades”), and also say more about the type of off roading you do (there’s a big difference in the best setup for say rock crawling versus dune bashing).
