I installed the ResoNix hood liner/sound absorber. The installation was easy and difference is subtle, with hood flutter now gone, but there still is about the same engine harshness/volume at higher rpms. Now I look forward to adding more sound absorbing material to the doors, as others have done. Toyota definitely skimped on this with the LC250, but I am confident that adding more sound damping will make a nice difference around town and on the highway.

Well, I have been checking the Redline website for forever it seams, for when their hood lifts would be available for MIss Daisy. The website always says out of stock. So I went poking around the Redline website and found a list of dealers. One was Summit Racing, south of Atlanta. I was prepared to drive down and get them, but the Summit website said they would ship directly from Redline.

Went to the Summit Racing website, searched, and found these.. View attachment 26516

Put them in my cart, checked out, and Boom! Free shipping!
So we’ll see if Redline really was out of stock, or were they just trying to steer me to one of their dealers. These were slightly more expensive than the base model $99 ones on the Redline website. These were $119, higher quality than the $99 ones. Even Miss Daisy is excited!

EDIT: DO NOT ORDER THESE from Summit Racing website! Despite using the Sumit Racing parts search, which gave me the above part number, IT IS THE WRONG PART for our LC’s. I called Summit, and they don’t even list the Redline part number 21-27024-02 for our LC’s. The guy at Summit, Ory, is putting in the correct part number for our LC’s into their system, and will get back with me.

Well.. after Summit Racing putting the right part number in their computer system, they got back with me and I ordered the correct RedLine part number 21-27024-02 for Miss Daisy over the phone. Four days later I get an email from summit racing that they are refunding the money to me, ...

We have canceled this part from your order. If you were billed, a full refund for the cost of the item will be issued back to the original payment method. In most cases, it will take 3-5 business days to post back to your account.

Oh well. I guess Miss Daisy will have to wait for her hood lifts.

It did appreciably reduce the noise level while improving the sound quality of the audio system. I had intended on adding sound deadening to the hood, but now find it not really necessary. I like hearing the engine, especially since it’s so quiet while cruising that I’m often driving much faster than I thought.

IMO the main benefit of damping the hood isn't for engine sound, but at a relatively low cost DIY, reducing chassis vibration and hood flutter while driving. As you suspect, I am not sure if the hood can be damped enough to significantly quiet the engine sound, especially under full throttle. On the other hand, I have not measured with a calibrated sound meter the difference in interior dBs.

I called them before they put the May date in there. They said the delay us they are going into production with the fabricator for the attachment brackets. They will be available for sale when those brackets come in and once the in stock, they said they would have plenty to meet our demand.

Sounds like in May, when they are in stock, we can all finally get these if we want them.

What sites do you all use to buy OEM? I tried to use Discounts Parts Monsnster (Dealership in Florida). They can’t ship my roof rack sadly. Have any of you got lucky with a local dealer price matching?

Most dealerships parts counters will not match internet pricing. Basically the parts counter total is about the same as getting it via a intranet dealer...........Makes no sense to me but that's been my experience.

Yes, the lower RPM cruising is pretty quiet imo.

We had an old metal trellis we removed a few years ago and I was told I need to hang onto it, so it was tossed in the garage behind the garbage cans… fast forward a few years later and while taking out the trash the trellis was bumped and fell against the new Land Cruiser resulting in some scratches that will likely need to be painted

Likely not the point of the thread, but that’s what I did to my LC today!

A cat knocked over a bike into the door of my FJ when it was new (my fault, I was trying to chase the cat out of the garage). It needed a trip to the body shop, so I know how you feel. I’m now really paranoid about trying to make sure nothing can fall over on the Land Cruiser!

Successfully tested and added a replacement driver’s side panel in the 1958 with soft touch from the premium trim level. Feels so much better with the soft touch surfaces, I didn’t think I actually needed it until I drove with this as opposed to the pure plastic trim on the door that I had. Part number is 67620-6AC70-21 and is in black. I think it was a 20 minute swap out, once you get past the fear of tearing apart your LC, it goes pretty quickly. One thing of note, the pull lever to open the door is in brushed chrome or something like that and the 1958 handles are black. So while I was “probably” going to do all four doors for consistency purposes, now it’s certain that I will.
