Great job Toyota . The new Kia telluride comes with higher ground clearance and better offroad tires, and the rear seats fold completely flat

Buy a KIA or get a lift kit. I wouldn't be caught dead in a KIA or NISSAN. No thanks.
I wonder if the reaction would be the same here if someone did a troller post of "I traded my LC250 for a Nissan Armada". Body on frame, ground clearance with air suspension, GT-R based V-6, made in Japan, three rows of seating, discounted pricing, etc.

Same reactions as Land Cruiser owners hate ever other vehicle and vehicle owner.....

Yeah I like the new Armada with the offroad features a lot. Would take it over a sequoia for sure. Bigger than I want but a good vehicle.

Wasn't going to reply, but looking at the photos of the Kia helped bring into focus one of the things that I like about my 250.

It doesn't look like a modern design-take interior. It makes me think of what it would look like if someone said, make a J60 or J80 interior but with modern materials and electronics. And I like that vibe a lot more than the "fully modern" interiors.

As others have said, if you love your 250 (I do) great. If you don't, that's fine, I hope you find something you love. I may not like what you choose, but who the hell cares what I think other than me?
The retro interior on the 250 is awesome. throwback feel and at times, it gives me safari vibes

Truly an insecure bunch. It might be related to the 4banger but who knows . ( full disclosure I love the lc despite the obvious shortcomings )

This is the type of scumminess that I’m referring to. They even bad mouth the GX that is the closest relative of the lc 😂

The new Telluride is a wannabe Range Rover (look at the rear end and taillights) and it is a unibody car.

It is going after a very lucrative and huge market segment and will probably be successful.

It is competing with Highlander, Grand Cherokee, Pilot, Traverse etc...

I chose my LC because I wanted an LC. (Replaced my 4Runner) not because I was shopping for a Pilot and decided on a LC after looking at other cars.

Nobody is disputing your point . I wouldn’t buy a Kia either and any one that suggest a Kia is even remotely in the same field as a body on frame dual locked truck when it comes to off-roading has a screw loose. The point is that when Kia designers got in a room they decided to provide flat folding seats for the overland crowds and more ground clearance just in case . Where as Toyota designers decided 8.5 inches of clearance is probably good enough for a dual locked go everywhere truck and who cares about overlanders . They will do with a 10inch gap with the seats folded when the last gen 4Runners were pretty much flat and 9.6 inches of ground clearance .

You are probably correct. I bet overlanders and aggressive off roading were not even considered.

It is probably less than .05% of the LC250's purchased new that are used for these activities.

I came from a 2017 Armada, and kept it for my son to drive. I can tell you that my LC has spent more time in the shop in 6 months than the Armada did in 8 years. Rock solid. But I grew tierd of driving something so big.

Armada is the same class - it's more a luxury tank to drive the kids to school - at least that's where I see them in my area. They are very thirsty as well but at least they have a big gas tank. When it comes to the Telluride - I've had Hyundai vehicles - we'll see which one is still on the road in a few years. I'll stick with the LC even though it has some shortcomings.

The Land Cruiser is literally in a class of its own. The closest "like" vehicle is a Merc G-Wagon as far as its intended purpose; that being a vehicle which excels both on and off-road and is not a family hauler. Perhaps a RR Sport fits this description as well, although they have become very low to the ground and feminine in design with the last two re-designs.

The Armada is akin to the GX550, but larger. They both have feminine lines and are designed with third rows with the sole purpose of hauling kids around. I've yet to see a man drive GX500 or an Armada. Not that it hasn't happened (perhaps once), however, that is not the intent of the designers.

This point exactly. A 250/Prado is not intended for heavy activities and it is unfair to pass judgement on the designers as this vehicle was not intended to do what it is criticized for not doing well.

Interesting take on this, but I guess this is an LC forum so anything other than an LC is not good enough. As a man that drove an Armada for 8 years, towing a 26' boat on a 30" LOA 7K# trailer regularly, I can say that is was much more than a kid hauler. It is still our primary tow vehicle as the LC is only rated at 6K. My goal was a GX550, but I didn't want to wait a year to get one. I guess I am just an ugly 6'2" 200# woman by your standards...

That wheel finish looks so good with the white body. Personally don’t love the Lexus grill too much but otherwise I think the GX has great styling, and they’re moving in the right direction.

Really weird when people insult vehicles for looking “girly” or feminine. Screams insecurity.

Thanks . I still like the stock wheels better but you can’t run 35s on them due to clearance issues
