I'm still not getting Google Maps in the HUD either. iOS and Google Maps are updated. Not sure if my Land Cruiser has updated its SW recently.

i think you will need to wait for google to enable it since they are being selective at the moment. i do not know how or why they choose some and not others.

I noticed yesterday that google directions were showing up on the dash display (via iPhone/CarPlay). This is definitely new within the last few days for me.

Yup, that’s all it is. It’s redundant, unnecessary, and kinda annoying if you have maps already active on the big display but otherwise I can see it being useful in some cases.

It’s very likely a controlled slow rollout from Google.

I generally plug in but half the time it is connected via wireless as well.

Also - I’m in a non-premium LC^2, so I do not have the HUD to confirm if it shows up there now or not.

without any nav widgets or driver assist in the center, i will get directions (when under 2mi) on the full HUD option, with Apple Maps. Not with Google Maps. Have not tested with Google maps and a widget on the dash.

One thing that is entirely silly is that the street name has a SIX character limit. So a road named something like "Broadway" becomes "Broadw"

Not even an ellipsis for our sanity!

I saw multiple posts in FB confirming google maps navigation is now available in HUD and the centre screen. Not sure who enabled it. Was that ios,google or toyota software update. This is a mystery. Any one have idea please share

If someone has a subscription to Toyota’s tech service they can check a VIN to see if it got a Toyota SW update. Last I’d checked mine hadn’t had an update since a few days before delivery.

It requires a subscription, the cheapest is a two day subscription for $25 I think? And it’s not at all user friendly. But you can get all kinds of repair info, tsb’s, and info on your own vehicle there.

You can check under the system settings > software updates and compare to latest version posted on Toyotas website.

I checked my own VIN through TIS and there has not been an update since it was delivered.

I even got out my J2534 passthrough device and ran GTS+, there are no new calibrations.
