Google Maps on HUD

Are you trying Google Maps through CarPlay or Android Auto? I am curious if the only way to Google Maps to present on the HUD is via Android Auto.

I am using CarPlay. You may be correct, Google Maps often does more on Android than on Apple.

For me the HUD nav data pops in at 2 miles out. Not sure if that's adjustable.

Miss Daisy dies that too… 2 minutes out, the next turn pops up on the HUD.

Meanwhile in our other car that has an Android OS we not only get directions in the HUD but most of the driver’s display is Google/Apple maps. I feel like the tiny map on the LC is just mocking me.

The whole Toyota HUD integration has been built with iOS Navigation in mind. All third party vendors who offer navigation support will on the big screen, but not the HUD. The chip and software drivers for the Apple Carplay behind are clearly meant for iOS. Turn by Turn will not work for Google.

Not true for the US spec......... Used Apple Maps on the HUD since day 1.

Glad it works for you! Saw your post and tried it on my way home with both Google and Waze , and no HUD. And, my firmware was just updated at the dealer Friday. Another software mystery.

google maps directions showed up for me too. it was from their latest ios app update on july 6

On my 2025 Apple Maps will display directions on HUD but not google’s various mapping apps.

iOS 18.5 on an iPhone 15 but couldn't get the heads up from Google (it also doesn't display when Nav is selected in the display area, just a compass).

Agreed that even just a map without even directions would be better in the center "void".

in order to get turn by turn hud i believe the hud also needs to be in "full" display mode.

I get Apple turn by turn, but not Google, in the HUD with the Standard display, I'll have to switch to Full and see if that changes with Google.

Check this out, it turns out it’s true that Google updated the app to show up on the HUD.. but it seems the update is rolling out in stages.. Mine still doesnt work..

no wonder it works for me but not my wife and we both have same ios and same google maps version.
