For the love of RSA (Road Sign Assist!)

I am in Canada and no beeping here if we go over the speed limit. We can even adjust how much over the speed limit (either 5 or 10 KM/H) before the roadsign display turn red.

UK settings allow me to set the same ranges (5-10km/h over before beeping) but as mentioned lower down, it seems to reset every time I turn the LC off.

@EOD Guy, thank you for this, I managed to find this fairly early on, but it seems we are just 'lucky' in the UK to have to turn it off every time we get in the car...

In the UK and Europe it resets everytime you start the car this is EU law so you get FTCA RSA etc etc binging away. I will fix it even if it means taking the dash pak out and disconnecting the buzzer!

I didn't know that. Will have to go back into settings - was just wondering yesterday if this was possible(or turning off the red indicator altogether).

Do not really mind the red indicator, even flashing when over the speed limit is fine by me and adds the safety reminder, just the beep I would like control over....

That's because it's a UK thing. If you spend enough time in the 600+ page manuals you can get everything configured so it mostly doesn't chirp at you the way all the lame YouTubers show and bitch about, but it takes awhile. I wish Toyota would define all the 3-letter acronyms on the dash display itself, it's annoying to try and remember 20 different acronyms (esp. the obscure ones), let alone what they actually do.

Agree with the YouTube comment: don't buy the legend if you want to find fault.
I was quite proud when I found the RSA acronym, as I am originally from the RSA... (Republic of South Africa!)

Using a thinkpad I've managed to turn off the drive monitor, seat belt warning etc I can't turn of permanently the RSA and LDA which are the most annoying..

For the love of all that is good, why can't I permanently turn off the RSA feature?

I have to go into settings EVERY time I get in the car to turn RSA off so my LC do not bleep, beep or ping at me when I go 1 mile over the roadsign speeds!!

Does anyone have a solution for this, please?
Or have I just not bothered to read the complete instruction manual?

I was able to turn mine off almost immediately after purchase. In settings you should be able to permanently disable as well as LDA if needed

You can't in the UK even though we are out of Europe and haven't enacked their law Toyota are shipping the UK cars with all the crap on..

I can turn LDA and RSA off quite quick now without looking but what a farse..

From memory and I'll have to have a look the option for driver monitor was default the other option was my settings which once changed to that it remmbered me having turned it off in the vehicle settings so it doesn't default back to on each time.. If you struggle I'll take some phoots over the weekend.

Right just bought an aftermarket box which should turn off the RSA and LDA etc and remembers the setting int he EU market. To fit I have to obtain access to the rear of the instrument cluster. I've found a video on removing the stereo BUT does anyone have the workshop manual for just getting to the instrument cluster as I'm sure I don't need to take the whole thing to bits.

Any thoughts on getting to the instrument cluster rear?

For the Europe and UK lot where it resets I've just fitted this box from a chap in Switzerland.. btech-shop.com

Absolutley brilliant still recognises signs NO BEEPS and all good with turning LDA off without the big orange warning signs..

Not the cheapest but having tried to solve it myself for ages I appreciate the effort that went into it..

Straight forward but quite involved, you have to take alot of the dash apart to get behind the clocks where the box goes. They have also just paused sale as they have asoftware bug on the Landcrusier box but I think it'll be sorted soon.

I just went into the menu and turned it OFF. Gone from HUD now too. Only warning I get is when I put on a signal as a car goes by so I can pull out behind them if they could possibly maintain speed after boxing me out... you know the type......

Thanks for the quick reply. I thought it was as I assume it’s using piggy back connectors, so just unplugging existing connectors, plugging them into btech loom, and then plugging in their loom connectors. So thanks for the confirmation.

Yes, not looking forward to pulling off multiple parts of the dash.

Does this plug behind the center display or the instrument cluster? I installed one in GRY and it was simple, now im thinking about doing same install in LC when new module comes out.

It installs behind the instrument cluster, once youve done it once it takes 15mins at most. I've now got an early release of the V2 module and it's brilliant you cna configure with an app and works faultlessly. Once he's got stock and selling openly I'll probably do a post on it.

To fit:

Remove top gear nob, remove gear nob trim, both centre console knee protectors off, drive mode off, start stop button trim just pulled away to access 10mm bolt, remove dash trim (note the plastic tab infront of passenger), then grill on top of dash out, 4 10mm bolts holding infotainment, that slides out, instrument trim can now be pulled off and finally 4 bolts for the instrument panel.

It soudns alot but having done it twice now I can do it very fast, most of the things don't need unplugging just the main dash and the drive mode, everything else cna be left plugged in and just pushed tot he side.

Overlal the I now have a car which doesn't beep and you cna configure what it turns off..
