Dogs and Cruisers

Cats of the dog world.

My parents have a Shiba and he is more cat like than my cat.

They are beautiful dogs.
These guys are very catlike, but they LOVE to play ball and will fetch and return balls right to your feet forever if you let them.

Right now they are in cat mode though.

I added the seat covers on the back of the second row to cut down on the floof and fur for sticking to the carpet. Cut out a hole for the center anchor point.

The boys are happy but still miss the 4Runner roll down back window but the third row AC vents are great!

My current setup for my two golden retrievers. The ramp is from amazon, link below.

Pros:
  • Very Sturdy. Has had about 180 lb (82 kg) of dogs on it at once, didn't bow.
  • Collapses into a very small footprint. Able to store it in the rear passenger footwell, under/in front of the kid's carseat when the dogs are in the rear.
  • Grippy surface - dogs seem more comfortable on this than the previous ramp we owned

Cons:
  • Gets jammed when trying to collapse sometimes. Can take more force to collapse than you would expect.
  • Strap that holds ramp in the collapsed state broke almost immediately. Currently kept together with a bungee cord.

Overall: Satisfied, would buy again.

Ziggy approved!

Does the window bounce or move while driving with it open?
So far it does not. If that starts, i will get heavier duty struts. And...if i am driving off road where it is very bouncy i'd close it.

Here are mine. Almost impossible to get a good pic of both of them at once. Coda is 3 years old and Grace is 3.5 months old.

Might consider some solid "pool noodle" type tubing. Put a slice down the length, slip it over the "silver" or "ram" part of the strut and secure with a couple strips of two-sided Velcro (one on each end). Easy to install and should something hit the glass, the sleeve would semi-crush like a sideways "V" but not allow it to slam shut etc......
