Brakes Squeal

Picked up my vehicle yesterday for the "b" pillar rattle that has been "fixed". The service manager told me, unpromted, about the TSB and said to give them 2 weeks notice to have parts. He said GST had so many complaints I wouldn't need to have a video or that they would need to replicate it first. I told him I would wait for my next service as mine is random at this point.

Just picked up my vehicle after 2.5hrs at the dealer, I dropped it and went to the brewery across the street. I called yesterday and today prior to my appt, "yeah we have all those parts" but come to find out NO they do not. The "Anti-rattle Spring" is on National Backorder (p/n 04947-0C030) or so I've been told. They also kept the vehicle that long to replicate the brake squeal... I told them upfront it does squeal and they even said "so it probably does it first thing in the morning and then goes away?" without prompt! I followed up with "yes and even in the afternoon on non-rainy days" (I'm in Albuquerque, NM).

I highly recommend you capture the brake squeal on video or we start a repository here of different color vehicle videos so everyone can use them. I even pleaded with them to just fucking fix it as I'm moving to an island off the coast of Maine in 2 months (retiring from the military) so I don't have time to fuck about with these dealer games, womp womp here I am waiting.

Anyone got an extra $10-15K I can borrow so I can trade-in the LC and buy the GX 550?

Sorry, not a fan of deceptive practices........

so you would rather buy a vehicle that looks like a mini van from the front for 15 K more and it also has squealing brakes like LC, but not go to the dealer ;)
I really wanted that Nori Green... like really wanted it, but to get whatever trim level I had to get was outside what I was comfortable with. I'll post my GoFundMe link in a minute!

I just had my service appointment today at a Seattle dealership. When I first called to make the appointment, they told me they couldn’t find the TSB. But when I brought it in today, I gave them the TSB number. They first told me that they couldn’t reproduce the squealing. They didn’t seem like they wanted to do anything. But the service advisor asked me to send him the video I took of it so he could show the mechanic. I had taken multiple videos on different days and different times. From the 3 videos I sent them, they said that the TSB would apply and it would be fixed under warranty. But because of the TSB, the parts are back ordered and could take about a week. I don’t care how long the parts take, I’m just excited to get it fixed. It’s been squealing for over a year and had been doing it since day 3 of my owning it!

I dropped mine off this morning. I've been sending the service advisor almost daily videos of the brakes squealing the first time I back up in the morning, here's hoping they actually fix it! They say they have the parts in stock.

Will be dropping mine off this Tuesday. I have 5 videos from my dash cam and a copy of the TSB. Parts are in stock. Service and advisor both watched the videos and confirmed.

Well, the good news is they replaced the parts without much of a fuss. The bad news is they used the old part instead of the new part for one of the three parts (Anti-rattle Spring). I didn't notice until I got home and looked over the receipt. I guess I'll find out how important that is to the whole thing?

Shows how little people know about vehicles and driving. Squealing is typically caused by oxidation and or glazing by chronic light braking. Solution take it up to 70-100 and stand on them.. burn that crap off. EAY

Instead of insulting a majority of the forum who understand bedding in brakes, understand this issue is beyond that, which is why Toyota has issued a TSB.

Please educate yourself a bit.

This is the first post I’d seen from this member, I thought it was a helpful introduction. “You might as well hit that ignore button now, I have nothing constructive to contribute.”

Yepper, one can usually tell:

When a comment is "old school" which equates to.... not wrong but a little outdated as technologies have changed and the OP welcomes the education.

When a comment is "novice" which equates to ...... good intentions but that's not how it really works and the OP is thankful and accepts "the correct way it works".

When a comment is "experience" which equates to ....... good advice, may not be exactly what the OP was looking for but may give the OP a different view point/idea. (in my generation's language "Several ways to skin a cat) and the OP makes up their own mind.

When a comment is "by the book" which equates to ......... it is written so it must be true and catastrophic results will happen if you don't follow what is written, if it's not done by the dealer it is inferior and the OP will "chicken foot" it till the end of time.

When a comment is "narcissistic" which equates to .......... bro, you need to think as I think, listen to what I say and just do it, can't you tell how smart I am" and the OP will keep at it until any comment they post (not really advice) is totally ignored.

When a comment is "elitist" which equates to ....... I spent all this money, so mine is better and the OP will remind everyone of how much money at every opportunity.

(A little satire to make your day)

Thanks all for the support on this and sharing the TSB. I dropped off my LC to get the windshield replaced today and they were able to confirm the brake squeal issue and ordered the parts!
