Brakes Squeal

Picked up my vehicle yesterday for the "b" pillar rattle that has been "fixed". The service manager told me, unpromted, about the TSB and said to give them 2 weeks notice to have parts. He said GST had so many complaints I wouldn't need to have a video or that they would need to replicate it first. I told him I would wait for my next service as mine is random at this point.
What was the solve for the b pillar rattle? I have something similar

Just picked up my vehicle after 2.5hrs at the dealer, I dropped it and went to the brewery across the street. I called yesterday and today prior to my appt, "yeah we have all those parts" but come to find out NO they do not. The "Anti-rattle Spring" is on National Backorder (p/n 04947-0C030) or so I've been told. They also kept the vehicle that long to replicate the brake squeal... I told them upfront it does squeal and they even said "so it probably does it first thing in the morning and then goes away?" without prompt! I followed up with "yes and even in the afternoon on non-rainy days" (I'm in Albuquerque, NM).

I highly recommend you capture the brake squeal on video or we start a repository here of different color vehicle videos so everyone can use them. I even pleaded with them to just fucking fix it as I'm moving to an island off the coast of Maine in 2 months (retiring from the military) so I don't have time to fuck about with these dealer games, womp womp here I am waiting.

Anyone got an extra $10-15K I can borrow so I can trade-in the LC and buy the GX 550?
I had a similar experience today with Toyota Walnut Creek (in California).

Called on 7/25 to make an appointment, spoke to a service advisor. It seemed like he acknowledged the TSB (in hingsight maybe he didn't care). I asked if he wants the TSB number, he declined. Made an appointment for 8/4.

Took the LC in on 8/04. A different advisor helped me, he said the parts are not available and on national backorer. Proceeded to tell him thats why I called, inquiring about the TSB and made an appointment. Why did I just waste my time coming here if the parts are not available. He gives me the run around and how they can look at some of my other concerns (these items were not a 911). Friustrated with them, left the car there. After picking up, they told me god knows when the parts will come and the parts department would call me when they're in. FML.

Yerp! It's some BS for sure but that's dealership for you, looking out for the CUSTOMER!

Did they at least verify the squeal? That's half the battle

Admittedly, I don't understand why dealerships have historically sucked and don't seem as a whole to get better.

Yeah I checked a week in advance and the day before to make sure they had all the parts, the day before the parts guy said only two of the three had come in but said the last pert would be there for sure. Apparently they never did get the spring and just used the old PN. (The service advisor got back to me today, he didn't notice the switch & said he'll look into it and will have them install the right part when they get it in.)

In my case it's just across town, annoying but not as annoying as if I'd taken it to a far away dealer. The funny thing is on Saturday I looked around the bay area for service department reviews and saw Walnut Creek had pretty good ratings, and I wondered to myself if it could possibly be worth driving all the way up there . . . I guess not!

I just wanted to add to this: I visited my dealer (Toyota of Orange, CA) last week for scheduled service, and I reported the brake squeal to the service manager. They tested it and confirmed they heard the squeal. Regarding a repair/service, the service team informed me that Toyota is aware of the issue and that the repair will come in the form of an entirely new brake kit. What that means specifically, they do not currently know, but there will be a fix, though it will be several months at least until this is available. They documented my issue and I'm told it was reported (along with another case) to Toyota. Further, I was told LC owners will be notified when the fix/kit is available.

The good news is at least Toyota is aware and it seems they are not brushing it under the rug.

I hope this helps.

Apparently they weren’t aware of the TSB? None of it is mystery anymore.

question to the folks here. How frequent is your break squeal?
I have had the break squeal pretty consistent (total 3200 miles driven). But now that I was ready to make video of break squeal and taking to the dealer I cannot recreate it for the last 3 days.
Not sure what is going on

Shit, that’s my dealership, too. Effing great.

I'm uncertain. They didn't mention a "TSB" specifically. Whether or not they didn't use the exact phrase on purpose, I don't know. I'm just relieved that they were able to recreate, acknowledge, and document the issue.

They had verified and documented the squeal several months ago when I took it in for the break-in oil change at 1k. Advisor at that time told me they would contact me if Toyota comes up with a fix. A beat them to the call :ROFLMAO: .

Their service department is decent. They pump out a super high voume from a tiny little space. I wonder if your experience is dependent on who your advisor is. I've been cycling through them until I find one I like.

Definitely confirm they have the parts before you (waste) your time taking it in.

A friend of mine went into the local dealer (the worse of the two) with his LC, the service writer at first said umm, brakes make noise when wet or under other conditions and it is normal.

I gave my friend a copy of the TSB which I pulled from TIS, after first getting pushback, he handed the service writer the TSB, the service writer looked at it and then sung a different story, that he would have a tech check it out and the parts would be ordered.

My buddy said about 20 minutes later, the service writer said that the parts would be in roughly two weeks and he would give my buddy a call when the parts are in.

Why do dealers make it hard? It is not like this comes out of service writer or the owner of the dealer's pocket, Toyota is going to pay.

Got the TSB done today.
Here is the story.
2024 - 1958 - Now about 15k miles
Dealer - Baxter Lincoln, Ne.
First reported to dealer @ 5k check (sound started @3k) - Confirmed sound by dealer and documented.
TSB came out and I called and made an appointment to "take a look" and will order the parts for the TSB "if needed" but I had to come in first to confirm what's wrong. (Already did @ 5k check- documented)
Went in for appointment today, they confirmed it was the issue. Easy because mine screeches/howls EVERYTIME I back up and apply the brakes.
Came back to me and said they have all the parts already and will do it right now. I then confirmed they are using the part numbers from the TSB and they said yes.
Its done and it was quiet for the first time in almost a year of backing up.

Talked to my service department last week and was told the part dept could not order the parts and they would call me back. A week later, no call back and straight to voicemail when I called. Frustrated I called Toyota. Really really nice and helpful person called my service department and my parts dept. I was told they have the parts except for the brake pads which are on backorder. So I wait.

Here in Houston, I had no issues getting the TSB done. Had gone to the dealer for some other stuff and told the Service Advisor to check the breaks TSB also. The mechanic while pulling the vehicle in the service bay was able to replicate the problem and they had all the parts at hand to replace them
