Bilstein finally steps to the plate…

According to my rep, there are not immediate plans for an 81xx series. It's likely that in the distant future there will be but evidently the 5100 series far outsells the 81xx so that's generally the priority. We'll keep everyone posted if that changes!
Dobinson's has had their 885V springs on backorder/out of stock for a hot minute now. Are you planning to stock springs other than the 819s you have online? Same question IRT the 6100 rears. I noticed you have the 6112s and 5100s. Thanks!

Took my 5100's out to Moab last week and had a great time on some technical tracks.

Never bottomed out the shock, no shock fade, and had excellent control on the steps and ledges, they seem very dialed in for the land cruiser for my style of driving. Close to OEM+. I've been out there four times with the OEM suspension so I do have something to compare them to.

Very happy with my purchase.

Did the 6112/6100 kit install over the weekend. Was pretty straightforward. Did an 1.5in lift up front and 1in spacer in the back. The ride is smoother than the stock base LC250, but not vastly different I'd say.

Interesting. My co-worker just did the kit on his 5G 4R (TRD-OR) at about an inch up front and stock height in the rear. It is noticeably stiffer riding in it compared to before. I wonder if our stock coilovers are just that much stiffer than the 4R TRD OR

TBH I thought the OEM setup felt comfortable, exact opposite of stiff.

The 5100-series all around feels OEM+, and it seems like the 6112's are similar. Off road, the 6112's should be a big improvement over the 5100-series on washboard roads and at high speed absorbing dips in the track. I'm not sure if there is that much difference on-road between the two.

Another topic all together is, these struts and shocks won't feel 'soft' until you drive them on a hard track. That's where you'll feel the actual difference. The rear on mine were about the same, with the front struts being slightly softer than OEM on the highway. Off road, huge improvement.

Agreed on all fronts.

Glad to see this.

I had 5100s on my Tundra. I did not care for them. Very harsh. Switched them out for 6112/5160 combo. Light years better.
So I put 5100's on my tundra as well - I was ok with them but my wife hated them. My son now has that truck. It is strange because when I look at the flyer I get the impression that the 6100 series are stiffer. But you are saying that they are not. So you have a better smoother ride on your LC with the bilsteins compared to the OEM? The only off roading I will do is beach and I want the very smoothest ride I can get.

Im not sure there's a comparison really between a Bilstein off a Tundra and a LC. I just drove 12-hours the other day, believe me, my wife would let me know if the 5100's were stiff! 😆 This is on E-load tires, which will honestly impact comfort far more than shocks and struts. If you want a smooth ride, 17" wheels and run 35's in a c-load range. Far more 'cushion' and sidewall flex to absorb the bumps in the road. This is doable with a small lift on the LC.

Thats what I am told - the tundra has big tires on 20's. My LC came with 20's and I think I will buy some 18' rims off marketplace and swap when the OEM tires need replacement - thanks.

What are your measurements to fender after install? Are you level or still small take

He would absolutely still have a rake with only a .5” Front-to-Rear differential on install. That 1.5” up front will also settle where the 1” spacer out back likely won’t by any measurable figure.

I think 1.1” is my only option if I’m keeping rear stock.

Your only option to what, level it out? 1.1” would certainly get you close, but the circlip options have some range

I would probably go with a 0.6" Dobinsons rear coil spacer (inexpensive and non-intrusive at that height) if that would allow you to bring the front to 1.5".

Would love to see some pics of these installed. Seems like a worthwhile mod just like the 5100s were for Tacomas, especially paired with a light lift spring for people who aren't seriously off-roading (like me).

Ordered a set of 5100’s front and rear $575 delivered, will install next week if they arrive

I must have played way too much! A full set was like $900 delivered for me.

Had the 5100 front and rear installed on my 1958 edition yesterday.

Feels a bit better than stock on road, can’t honestly tell if it’s a fresh alignment or the 5100s or both I feel. I had the truck leveled, no other mods.

I’ll updated when I put a few more miles on them.

Nice! And some pics too! Although I know what level looks like still fun to see it!
