Bilstein finally steps to the plate…

so do the 6100 for the rear work with the stock springs?
Yes. Anything from factory springs up to 1.75” lifted springs. You probably already know this, but someone up in the comments section may be creating confusion. The shock and spring are separate assemblies in the rear. These are advertised to have enough travel to accommodate the additional spring height.

Thank you - appreciate the clarification.

Here is the lift profile for the 6112s.

I contacted bilstein on when it’ll be available- they said early to mid may it should start showing up at retailers. I am probably a little bit out on getting it (starting a business with my coworkers and want to ensure we can make it work before buying new toys!) but excited to see feedback from folks. I’m looking for a level-ish stance (slight rake), while maintaining on road comfort and enhancing off road capability so this seems like a good option.

So, I was the one sowing confusion rearing the rears being adjustable, sorry about that. How does someone go about getting springs for the rear that would give you some lift, but match the front OEM springs? Not in height, but in performance.

Check out Dobinsons. I’m communicating with them now in prep for a 6100/6112 order.

ICON and ARB/Old Man Emu also sell pairs of rear springs only.

Here is Dobinson’s offering for rear spring replacement. I am still waiting on a response to my question IRT the rare instances where I unload my cargo area and what impact that would have on spring height.

Their part numbering is kind of confusing until you start building a full suspension kit and it shows you selection differences. Just FYI for anyone also looking.

Curious if the C59-817V above would fit since they're 2"...

This is one of the questions I’m asking and waiting a response to. My LC almost always has 250-300lbs above the rear axle. Wanted to know realistic spring height using the 885 and 817 at that load, and if 2” is a true extension when I am empty. The 885 is likely my path forward absent them having a custom option.

My local overlanding garage said they've frequently ran 2.5" springs on Tundra 6100s (max 1.5" i think) and they've been fine. He thinks a nominal .25" isn't a big deal, but obviously can't take that to the bank.

Those springs will fit fine and will provide 2" of lift anywhere in that weight range and likely a 1/4" to 1/2" more when below the weight rating.

All the two inch lift height springs are the same length, I'm pretty sure the .5" are the same length as well the coil thickness and weight required to compress them is the variance.

I put the CS59-817V on mine and they were exactly 2" of lift, and IIRC exactly 2" taller than the OEM. I had to add the Dobinsons spacer to achieve the 1/2" rake I wanted to maintain on mine.

The only bearing the rear springs have is where in the shock travel the shock will wind up at ride height. Raise it too much and you have little droop and too much compression (hard on bump stop impacts) which is better than the shock bottoming out on compression resulting in failure but not good for ride quality offroad when your hard on the bumps.

If I were doing Bilstein I'd be more interested to know what the shock lengths are front and rear vs OEM, if they aren't longer than OEM I wouldn't run them as you'll loose articulation (droop). I'd also want to know that at full coilover adjustment for lift up front if they still provide full OEM or better articulation or rather if at what point your trading lift for articulation as most off the shelf kits have this unacceptable to me trade off.

Have you watched the Shock Value series? It might make you reconsider? (Spoiler alert - Fox performed poorly and Bilstein were among the best.)

Picked up the 5100 f&r set, so once they're delivered, I'll toss them on. Guess I'm the guinea pig because I haven't found anyone else who've ran these yet. Video gives me some confidence they'll be good to go. I'm heading to Moab in 3-weeks so it'll be before then!

Glad to see someone will be installing them. I'll be curious to here about your experience.

We've got these in stock & ready to go for anyone interested! We haven't sold a set of these yet but have run them on numerous other Yotas and expect these to perform phenomenally for the price point, as they always have for us in the past.

Any insight if 8112’s or 8100 are a possibility?

According to my rep, there are not immediate plans for an 81xx series. It's likely that in the distant future there will be but evidently the 5100 series far outsells the 81xx so that's generally the priority. We'll keep everyone posted if that changes!

The market for $5000+ suspensions is always going to be limited, and Bilstein will likely need to see a few hundred thousand more 6th Gen 4Runners sold before they do the R&D to sell these. But there's still plenty to choose from other - ICON, Radflo, ADS, Fox, Dirt King, etc.
