Anyone purchasing below MSRP?

I just read an article saying that Land Cruiser sales are down ~47% YTD. I would say take this information and use it to your benefit for negotiations. That said, I looked at the raw data and perhaps I mis-read it, but the supposedly super-popular GX550 is also down about 43% From looking at the raw data, it also looks like the 4Runner is likely cannibalizing quite a bit of LC sales. Either way, for those of us in the market for an LC, this is good news.

Not surprising, used prices have shot down finally by $5-7k recently on all the popular websites like CarMax.

So my dealer gave me a ~$7,500 discount on the 1958 but is willing to buy it back for $1,000 more than what I paid. And they're also willing to do a $7,500 discount on the Premium that they have in stock. So to upgrade, I'd have to spend essentially a $1,000 or so less than the actual spread in MSRP + TTL/fees, so around $12k all in with TTL/fees.

This is essentially their first offer, so I'll see if I can do better but if not, would love to get this forum's thoughts (particularly from those that have made the upgrade) as to whether I should do this. I plan on keeping this car for a long time (I still have a GX460 that's 14 years old) and am thinking maybe some of these upgrades would be nice to have over all those years.

I know others have gotten better deals to upgrade, but this seems to be the limits of what I can actually get in terms of an offer with my limited negotiation skills.
Discounts with a trade are of absolutely no meaning.

The only way to look at a trade is know what the value is of the vehicle you are trading. This is what it is worth and what you are willing to take. Then figure in your mind what you are willing to pay for the new vehicle.

The difference is your number. Period.

Don't include taxes and other fees. Pay those separately and don't calculate directly into the price.

Buying from a member of the Southeastern Toyota Cartel would be a no go for me if/when I buy another Toyota.
Definitely best to avoid it, if you can. Closest non-SET dealer to me is about 5.5 hours away, but I've bought a couple of vehicles from them. Crazy what SET gets away with. Standard accessories like floor mats, mud guards, etc. are marked up in SET, not to mention every vehicle has a ton of port options added.

Sales are indeed down by 48% like the article stated but not because of low demand. If demand was so low, explain why used 2024 LCs are still worth >90% of what they sold for.
There’s a much smaller supply of used LC250s than brand new ones and that will probably hold for a few more years. Dealerships make more money on used than new and will keep prices as high as possible. Toyotas command high used prices just look at late model LC200s that sell for more than brand new LC250s.

That’s a really good deal! I’m also in NorCal. Which dealership did you purchase from?
I bought it from Santa Cruz, not that id recommend them. It wasnt a great experience with constant attempts to upsell and bait and switch tactics. I drove from Walnut Creek for the price and wasnt attempting to negotiate cause i knew it was a great price. I wasnt aware it was a dealer demo vehicle (250 miles) and was a superbowl car which was on the field at some point with decals and such. Nevertheless i wanted that exact color combo and the deal was still right.

That explains the price....

Thanks for the details! I was actually planning to contact Toyota Walnut Creek because they have strong reviews and reportedly they don’t go over MSRP. But apparently that means they really don’t negotiate either, I.e what you see is what you get. On top of a getting a good deal, your LC also has an interesting story 😂 !

I had to shop around some, but in the end, my local dealer ended up making a good offer. End of the month definitely helped with that. Ended up being just over $6,800 off. I got a wide range of offers though, so anyone looking should shop around.

I got wholesale for my trade in and $6,000 off window sticker (no dealer add ons, cash deal). Premium package, crazy cold box, sway bar disconnect and 20’s I didn’t want.

Gas prices up, big SUV sales down. pretty simple across the board. End of year will be a great time to buy big stuff this year as there will be lots of big, thirsty inventory on the lots.

I have an offer for ~7k below MSRP ... I'm wondering what everyone feels with the current economy and gas prices fluctuating that can we get more off? The trim unnfortunately has the $1440 OEM roof rack as an add-on. Im pretty sure it won't hold the weight of an Ikamper which I plan on putting on there so What can I do with the junk oem roofrack? Another dealer is offering a lower discount but the price is at ~63k. All have the 20" wheels as well as the stabilizer disconnect and moonroof

$7k off of MSRP is hovering around better than invoice. The question is if that is $7k below actual MSRP or $7k below an MSRP that includes 3-4k in portfolio adds. Either way, that’s a solid offer I’d jump on if I were a serious buyer.

Sorry I should've specified its ~7k off of TSRP which includes the add-ons and destination etc.

If you’re seeing 4.5k below MSRP on a 1958, or 6.5k on an LC (don’t quote me on these, they were the deltas on 2025MY when I was looking), you’re seeing invoice grade numbers. If you’re being offered better than that, they are likely taking it back elsewhere in the deal.

Edit: a quick search shows that the 1958 numbers mentioned are pretty close to accurate, but the LC trim delta has shrunk for 2027. More around $5k. If you’re seeing $5k below MSRP, you’re seeing a great offer. Accessories excluded from the conversation of course

I did buy my 26’ LC for 6$k off sticker off the lot, cash deal. It was advertised on web site by one dealer (rural area upstate NY). I found similar one meeting my spec at another dealer with fewer tech options in my state a bit closer (advertised LC had video recording, storage yada, that I didn’t want anyway and upped price a couple thousand if I remember right) at another rural dealer on lot and offered same 6$k off their sticker. They tried to get me to tell them where the other deal was to try to work me but I declined to give them the info (Mr Dealer sir, you know if it makes business sense for you to sell to me or not at $6k discount). Let me know if you want to sell $6K off otherwise I’ll buy elsewhere.

If the vehicles are on the lots (especially near month end), they will negotiate. If you are in a hot yuppie area where people have higher incomes and want to purchase locally it might not be so easy.

That is a good offer.. SOme people here had to pay $5,000- $10,000 over MSRP.

I'm still seeing prices above MSRP in choice colors with choice options.
