what to carry in Land Cruiser

lol great minds think alike. How are you storing/organizing the lures in the trunk?
Heh - no real organization right now... the storage on the battery side I'm keeping as my "sharps" cubby. I've got my filet knife and pliers there, some extra weights, and I just have a couple lures there. A 3oz spoon, 3oz top water and two 5in paddle tails with 3oz jig heads. I throw in a small towel there to keep it all from rattling/moving too much

This is where a 3D printer would come in handy to make some stacking divided lure trays for the otherwise useless cubbies.

I have a random set of tools and handy items that I keep in a roll up tool bag. I have a separate first aid kit so I try not to duplicate any of those items. Multimeter was $15 but works great and I don't worry about it. On the other hand, the Leatherman was kind of pricey and probably unnecessary since I always carry one in my pocket. I'm sure everyone's got a unique collection of their favorite tools.

I also always keep a large towel or two in the cargo area. I have some recovery gear in the long storage compartments. But for other items like a shovel or camping gear I only take when I know I'll need it.

I carry water in small bottles so they fit in the center console. The remainig bottle pack in the trunk, I have usually few litres (liters?) with me. Drinking water while waiting at traffic lights is a good way to get your daily intake.

I carry snow chains, because they are very effective in snow and in mud. I choose the tire size so that I can still fit snow chains. I know that chains are unpopular because you have to make a decision before you get stuck. Sometimes you have to put the chains on for just a few hundred meters. I have experience driving on forest roads in fall. Conditions can change due to heavy rain, and chains have proven their effectiveness on soft ground.

Umbrella, year round. Ice scraper & gloves in winter.

For the 100 series that I drove for 22 years, I also carried jump cables and a AAA card for the later 10 years.

I think the better question is where to put whatever you’re carrying.
Yeti box contains all of the emergency and utility items in my TLC. Added ‘Desert does it’ seat elevator steel components to front seats and use a sold foam under leg wedge to elevate knees for highway driving. Perfect mods for my needs and comfort!

For the last 30 years I have pickup trucks with toppers on them, so I had lots of room to carry stuff. I carried 3 lawn chairs, 2 shovels, 2 hand saws, tow rope, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, sleeping bag, blankets and extra clothes. With the LC I don't have enough room to pack everything. So what stuff do I need to carry for emergencies?
I was in the identical situation. No more leaving stuff in the back buried so deep you forget what is there. My advice is focus on what you are doing. The LC is a minimalist for storage therefore you need to optimize your efforts.

For local daily driving I keep a first aid kit, small elastic cargo net (for use in the rear compartment to secure loose items) and a Rough Geek Battery Pac/jump start/air compressor. Sounds like a lot but the 3 fit in ½ of a shoebox, they also fit in the storage areas in the rear. There are numerous vendor options other than Rough Geek.

For road trips and off road trips I keep an Action Packer storage container with my 'stuff' in it. Again it depends on what you are doing, where you are going and what support you will have (convoy of friends, cell service, weather expectations). No need bringing a winch, chainsaw, folding shovel and axe to go to the neighbouring town's football game.

Regardless of what you pack a couple of rules apply:
Know how to use it and all the components
Have used it once so you are familiar
Always have that First Aid kit. Put one together yourself and know everything in it and how/when to use it.

Good luck

Well winter in the mountains, parkas, blankets, sleeping bags, water and food bars. Summer I leave out the parkas for lighter summer jackets. This stuff is only for long trips travel. For everyday stuff I always have water, first aid, even a pistol for dispatching road kill, etc.

I have a shelf from Victory 4x4 that really helps extend the storage space and I added a couple quick fists to it underneath. The pic below is packed for a trip but I always carry the stuff on and under the shelf for emergencies. The list is flashlight, e-tool, fire extinguisher, tow strap, med kit, soft shackles, tire inflator, bungie cords, cable ties, duct tape, fire blanket, tool roll and reflective triangles. All of it is out of the way of the regular cargo space and it all stays put. My wife laughed at having the e-tool around town until I used it to help dig out a mail carrier who got stuck in deep sand on a street being redone :)

Bedding to 0° F is in the rooftop tent. In the back is soda, beer, snacks, a little tent to change clothes or poop in, a first aid kid with all toiletries, tools, a torch, a milk crate full of cured oak firewood, some flashlights, some battery banks, a jump box, some landscaping shears, paper towels, hand soap, dish soap, a single-burner stove, coffee, water... Pretty much, I'm ready to camp any time. If it's going to be for a long time, I bring a change of clothes, camp chairs, and a Zodi shower.

I just remembered there is also recovery gear and rain gear. 😁
I'd love a photo of how this is all packed!! That sounds like a ton of stuff!
