Hey everyone!

I’m in the market for some Volk wheels. I’m debating several models in 18x8

Te37xt mspec
Rays 05x
Rays 08x

Does anyone know the exact weights of these wheels? The info seems very hard to find online and even some of the distributors I called just give estimates.

Also if anyone has any of these, please share some pics. I’d love to see how they look on the LC. Thanks!!

My understanding was the lightest Volk Racing wheel with a 6x139 bolt pattern is the 17" TE37SB at around ~16 lbs a wheel. The other Rays A-LAP wheels are a few pounds more. The slightly heavier wheels are also rated for 2600lb loads, which is good for a truck.

Rays probably will never list the exact weight of each wheel, since there are so many different bolt patterns, offsets, widths, and finishes offered, and a pound or two difference isn't going to be critical on a 5500+ pound truck. The stock 18" wheel weight is around 28lbs, so you're going to get significant weight savings with a forged wheel.

Makes sense that they won’t post every offset weight etc. And yes, it will be a huge weight savings over factory wheels but I’m on 17” SCS wheels at the moment which come in at 22lbs, so I’m just trying to make sure I’m coming in significantly under that. Because as you know, AT tires weigh a lot more than the stocks.

I’ve been looking at Rays D9s myself and like you would like to know actual weights. I’ll be waiting for retailers to get them in stock before calling and asking if they know what the weights are.

I'd estimate you will be within 1-3 pounds of those 17" wheels by going to 18" Rays forged wheels. For comparison the forged 18" Bradley Takumi (similar to SCS Gen 5) are 20-23 pounds. It should be noted forged wheels pound for pound should be stronger than cast.

Adding on to this, wheel design also contributes a lot to a wheel's weight potentially more so than the construction method. TE37XT's, 05X's and 08X's look like they'd be a fair bit heavier than a TE37SB due to the face designs.

Comparing cast vs forged, the difference between a TE37SB and a Gramlights 57DRX is only about 2-3 pounds. Bradley Takumi and Bradley V (Wheel that SCS Gen 5 copied) are about 3-4 pounds difference. The real benefit to forged isn't weight savings but wheel strength/rigidity, great on the track but I don't think there's a huge benefit in most 4x4 scenarios. 4x4 tires have generous sidewalls and most offroad impacts are low speed. Unless you're really abusing your wheels I'd probably go for a quality flow formed wheel and save a bunch of cash or go custom forged but I think with tariffs the savings might not be there anymore.

Tire choice could also impact weight more than forged vs cast.

I have the SCS FA16 17x8.5 -10 and Maxxis Razor AT are coming in at 64.99lbs so roughly 7.1lbs lighter than stock
1958 stock wheels are tires are 72lbs? Are you sure? I just weighed my LC LC 18’s with Michellin LTX’s and they came in at 68lbs. The 1958 stock tires are smaller too.

When I weighted mine the rim was 32 and the tire was 40. But that could be off I just had a basic scale.
I just looked up the factory 1958 tires and I think you’re right. Tire rack lists them as 39lbs. Interesting that these all seasons weigh more than the “all terrains” on the LC LC trim even tho they are smaller in diameter.
