I wonder if the LC having parts supply issues / delays could be driving this. How many people are waiting for various OEM LC parts right now? In the US many car theft trends are driven (pardon the pun) by the ability to part out the car.

Right so now on to a possible solution
What about a steel “cover” that has maybe a rubber protective layer on the vehicle touching side and then fits around the rear bumper and then bends up so it rests against and covers access to the area the scrotes want to cut into
You can then reverse up to a wall and trap the “cover” in place
Does the LC brain trust think it’s a daft idea ? Does it sound viable ?

Sorry to hear about the attempted thief. My dealer told me of a forecourt theft of an old model swb, in August, done and gone in 9 mins. Professionals, all caught on cctv, but vehicle never found.
So I have invested in a disklock on the steering wheel, cumbersome but so far has provided comfort that it will deter a theft. That and switching the keys off.

I mentioned in a different thread that a neighbor alerted me to someone looking at/messing with the back of my Land Cruiser recently, she scared them off before they did anything. I had a bike rack on, folded up, which probably complicated access. Although it wouldn't have slowed them down for long, they just had to find the right pin to remove & knob to pull to fold it down.
This and your comment do have me thinking though, if you had a wide heavy duty cargo carrier that would fold up right against the rear, maybe that would be a small deterrent? I have one but it's not heavy duty enough to do much, but I might take a look and see if I can figure out the possibilities. Might be a useful additional layer.
Edit: for instance this is the 1Up USA 60" cargo carrier folded up. This one might not be easy to lock though.

I've seen a similar setup where the wheel is against the tailgate on the left. With a locked wheel and lock for the wheel support this approach could impede ready access to the back panel.

I like it and yes that would seem to be a pretty comprehensive solution but it’s a lot more hard core than I would want here in the UK

Morning - so even before the tailgate has been fixed and with the LC parked pretty much hard against the wall the b@stards have come back and cut a small hole in the passenger door - doors unlocked but vehicle still here so another failed attempt but more damage
Sadly that is 3 attempted thefts in 6 months - 2 inside 10 days and 3 insurance claims - which is too much for me and once this damage is repaired the LC will be off to a mates barn and sold from there - I like the vehicle a lot but this is ridiculous - no way I can retain a vehicle that attracts this much criminal attention
The shadow imobiliser has prevented the criminals from driving the vehicle away but obviously doesn’t stop them cutting holes in the bodywork

I would not rely on a stop lock wheel lock to materially delay the criminals as that was removed - there is some metal filing like debris around the drivers area and the leather on the steering wheel is damaged and the lock left behind
Seems the immobiler did its job - for now - having tried 3 times to steal it using the cut and can bus method seems possible they will be back to try by a different route - maybe it’s flat bed lorry and winch next
Might need to get it to the body shop early at this rate

Those thieves are reckless. Props to you for fending them off this long. I don't blame you for wanting to get rid of it, any idea what you might get as a replacement?
What is a "stop lock wheel lock"? Do you mean a steering wheel lock? If so, which one were you using (that they were able to cut off)?

They can drill out or cut through any steering wheel lock with the right tools, but it's still a deterrent and makes noise, possibly alerting the owner.

It may be the case that where you parked your LC up against the wall and they made such a hash of trying to access the canbus from the tailgate due to the limited space you gave them that this was the reason they failed last time, not the immobiliser. So hence they returned to access through the passenger door after doing a bit of research. If that’s the case you may not have any further attempts from this group. However, that doesn’t stop another group trying again in 6 months time.
Either way it’s a nightmare for you.

I misinformed you about the wheel lock - it was removed by the simple action of cutting a piece out of the steering wheel - I now haVE A wHeel like an Aston Valkyrie only with rough edges

Man... that looks like a great alternative to an IGLA. If they made the wireless set-up to work with a proximity card/tag that just enabled the relay.. just have the card/tag in the vehicle, no need to switch the remote each time. That would be perfect IMHO.
