UK theft attempt

Morning - so even before the tailgate has been fixed and with the LC parked pretty much hard against the wall the b@stards have come back and cut a small hole in the passenger door - doors unlocked but vehicle still here so another failed attempt but more damage

Sadly that is 3 attempted thefts in 6 months - 2 inside 10 days and 3 insurance claims - which is too much for me and once this damage is repaired the LC will be off to a mates barn and sold from there - I like the vehicle a lot but this is ridiculous - no way I can retain a vehicle that attracts this much criminal attention

The shadow imobiliser has prevented the criminals from driving the vehicle away but obviously doesn’t stop them cutting holes in the bodywork

Seems you'd be better off getting rid of the criminals, not your LC.

How does one man solve the crime issues of a city of 12 million people in which we have car crime everywhere

Maybe it’s a vacuous throwaway comment - if it’s not your vehicle/life experience impacted it’s easy to post in a forum I suppose

Anyway I will step away from the forum for a while - have fun guys

Not at all. I dont advocate for undue violence. I do believe however in the rule of law. And I believe in a government that takes a hard/harsh stance on prosecuting criminals and swiftly catching perpetrators. I also believe that anyone should have the right to use force to protect thier own property, especially high value property like vehicles (which people often depend upon for thier livelihoods). More Canadians (like you) have to wake up and get rid of the liberal/woke politicians you keep electing.

100% agreed as law abiding victims. We just sit, whining, and pray those criminals staying away from us by lucks! Mean…someone else become criminal’s victims….then another day/time for us!

Just common sense-No politic “fan/gang”. Be friendly because we all share the SAME situations. If criminals know that they have to pay expensive price for their actions…they will stop or significantly crime/ thefts reduced

Neither Canada nor the US can claim having found the panacea for crime control.

The United States has a significantly higher incarceration rate than Canada
While Canada's rate is higher than most Western European countries, the US rate is several times higher, with a recent rate of around 541 per 100,000 population compared to Canada's rate of about 107 per 100,000.

For serious crime:

• United States: The homicide rate was 5.7 per 100,000 population in 2023.
• Canada: The homicide rate was 1.9 per 100,000 population in 2023, which is three times lower than the U.S. rate.
• Firearms Disparity: This difference is primarily driven by gun violence. In 2023, 76% of U.S. homicides involved a firearm, compared to 38% in Canada. When firearm homicides are excluded, the non-firearm homicide rates in both countries are nearly identical.

Property crimes are also close to the same rate in both Countries. More people in jail, or killed, doesn't necessarily mean you and your stuff are safer. Even if you think the US rule of law machine is more effective, jails being full isn't eliminating the crime problem. I wish it was that easy; huge tangled mess of socio-economic variables are at play.
