Toyota Recalls 82,000 Vehicles Because Driver Displays Can Go Blank; 2024-2025 Land Cruiser included

Yes, that's a bummer. It been inconsistently happening on mine since I got it at the end of 24
That sucks for sure. What does the service center say about it?

I had the recall update done a couple of weeks back. I really didn't have a real problem with the screen going dark until today when driving it suddenly goes dark and came right back on.? How weird.

Miss Daisy’s display went dark for the first time, four days ago after we finished up with the GF’s follow up appointment in Murfreesboro, TN.. I called the local Toyota dealership there for an appointment and they refused to do the update, before our 200 mile trip home.. So we ran a few errands, and after the fifth restart, Miss Daisy‘s display worked perfectly again, and continue to work fine the entire trip home.

We have an appointment at our local (70 miles away) Toyota dealer tomorrow morning at 10 AM to get the updated software installed.

Funny enough my Rav 4 also had a recall for this. The sad part is that prior to the "fix" I never experienced the issue. Then after bringing in the vehicle to be "fixed", then it started after the supposed fix.

I'm too lazy and don't care to bring it in again. Typically I just restart the car and it comes on. Lol

I decided to wait until the OTA solution is available and avoid the dealer, but reading some of these has me wondering. I have never had this failure, not even a flicker, since new 8/24. Only have 21K miles. Don’t want to do the fix then have the problem afterwards. Patience, you have….

Exactly, let others be the beta testers, and wait for a verified solution. A solution that excludes the dealer's butchers ravaging your vehicle.

Hard to trust my local dealer, who already told me if I didn't do all the maintenance and recommended items with them, Toyota will deny any warranty. I asked them to put it in writing and they began to tell me stories of when it happened, so they are trying to "help me". So I pulled up the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, particularly 15 U.S.C. § 2302(c), I keep it handy on my iPad for this kind of thing; “Under federal law, it is illegal for manufacturers or dealers to refuse to honor a warranty or to deny coverage simply because someone other than the dealer did work on the car." verbatim from the FTC. Anyway, they gave me the evil eye and checked me out.

Same with me. Only problem before I had the update was the screen dimming like it was dark outside during daylight at random times. Then it goes completely dark and right back on a few days ago. I believe the update might have some bugs in it.

Who is your dealer? I don’t want to end up there..

We pay the price for technology sometimes . Whether it is hardware or software , we as consumers need to accept the misfortunes . The critical area is retaining good contact details at dealer / manufacturer level . The easy fixes are generally the early stage of the model . The difficult ones are more often related to environmental issues and longevity .

Does anyone know how long it takes for the recall notice to drop off of the Toyota app, after a dealer has done the software update?
