Just to be 100% clear, it's your gauge cluster that goes blank (speedometer, fuel gauge, odometer, etc), and NOT just the infotainment screen?

I've had my infotainment suddenly go dark a few times, though it's always "rebooted" itself when that happens...never had an issue with the actual gauge cluster in mine. This recall also appears to not include the 1958 ed, as it does have a different gauge cluster than other trim levels.

I got the recall too. The remedy is just a simple software update. Nothing to worry about.

This has happened to my LCLC once. The digital dash (not the infortainment screen) went black after I started the car. The only things showing were a speed readout in a very small font, and a couple of other indicators. I wish I had taken a picture. Restarting the car did not help. I took it to the shop that morning. By the time they restarted the car in the afternoon, it had fixed itself, so not reproducible. I have not received the official recall notice yet. My Toyota app indicates that my LC is part of the recall, but it says "Remedy Not Available".

While I can't give you a definitive answer, if the update gets applied OTA I would expect the recall warning that appears in the Toyota app would go away.

I have seen a few posts here on the forum of owners experiencing temporary loss of their main dash display. I have yet to experience this myself.

It happened to me once a few months back. Restarted and it’s been fine since. Hoping for OTA fix or I’ll schedule dealership visit once remedy is available

Did a little digging and Im hopeful the fix will be via OTA. It may pop up once it’s available or push a notice to go to settings and software update once available

I think this recall is about the instrument cluster and not the navigation screen.. I’ve had my instrument cluster go black once, there’s a thread about it here where other people had the same issue.. it fixes itself when parked for a couple of hours.
So since the instrument cluster is being updated, I think (not sure) a dealer will have to do it, as it’s not an update for the navigation screen to be done OTA, similar to the camera module recall that we had a couple months back..

Yes, it’s 100% IRT the larger (LC trim) instrument “metered” display.

@Altitude reported the OTA aspect of the conversation was derived from the Toyota app notification and not member supposition.

This happened to me a while back and I posted about. Luckily I was going by a dealership and stopped in. The service manger was doing vehicle intake and was able to see what was going on. The service department said they managed to get it back after a while. Not sure if it was like others have said where you wait a while and it comes back on. The service manager errored in the side of caution and ordered a new cluster unit under warranty. I haven’t had any issues since, that was November 2024, according to the date of my old post.

It's definitely the infotainment screen I have mine scheduled for the "fix" tomorrow. It has happened only once and it came back on in less than a minute. What happens a lot more is the screen dimming like it is dark outside during the day in bright sunlight. I hope this corrects that because it is a bummer when using the navigation.
