Toyota App?

Can this all be done thru Apple Maps? I have a super secret hidden Air Tag as well..

Besides the remote start, I seriously doubt you’ll miss the app. Has a few notifications but the LC will tell you the same most likely.
It can be useful, but not critical.

For a contrary view 3 years of connected services came with my LC so I have experimented with them. The app is somewhat clunky however I love the ability to remote control the vehicle, especially on those chilly mornings when I can start the car from my apartment (which is too far for the remote to do so). The ability to check the status of the tires, doors, windows, etc is nice. I have been getting used to Toyota's navigation map, including using it for an 1,800 mile cross country drive, and I have found it provides most of the functionality of Google Maps. The only issue I have had with it is sometimes it doesn't download sections of maps and you appear to be driving in the middle of nowhere. I'm not sure if that is a bug in mapping software or a connectivity issue. I haven't seen a vehicle software update yet so I can't comment on using the app to download and update the LC.

I'm with you... don't like the idea of selling my data. We think that anything that is 'free' means we aren't paying for it.. you are, you just don't know how they are monetizing it.

With that said, I'm assuming the OTA updates are for the infotainment system? I don't care about the Nav updates as I won't be using it. Is there a work around (USB/etc) if not using the app to update these things? TIA!!

Everything you said is correct, and I am in total agreement. However, in reading your post, it just dawned on me, I gave them all the information anyways when I bought the damn thing.

And yes, nothing is free anymore. I call BS when I have to pay a “processing fee” when I’m trying to pay a bill. I have to pay y’all to let me pay the money I owe you? Dumb af
