The “I love my land cruiser but hate this about it” thread…..

My big gripe is the 1958 head unit + speaker decisions Toyota made (very weak power output).

I love my 1958 for its simplicity so you could say I am being ridiculous (usually right) but why is the 1958 head unit output so weak? Also the ohms on each speaker is a bit of a headscratcher (8 ohm in tweeters for ex.). Guess I get what I paid for lol
The stereo in the premium is lousy as well. Lousy for a premium vehicle for sure. I’ve replaced amps, DSPs, added a subwoofer and amps and am having g all new speakers installed in the next couple of weeks. I pounded on those stock speakers for a while so I could save some money and the amps et al improved it substantially. But it still sucks. Can’t wait for my JL speakers to come in!

I mean, I was being a smart a$$, sorry bout that. I guess my assumption was that you have the AC on when turning on the seat ventilator, which would then be recirculating AC air… I honestly thought my emoji conveyed my being contrary and apologize if it misled.
lol jokes on both of us big dog apparently cooled seats use the ac and ventilated seats only use the re circ air.

Slippy, slappy, Swanson, Swanson….. sampsonite we were way off!!!!

I immediately call for DubDub to be put on this forum's double secret probation. Cause of action: Being a smart a$$ and clearly a bad Land Cruiser egg....

For the records, is DubDub your first or last name? Thank you.

Wait until you turn half-way to 100 years of age. It doesn't get better....

I have mentioned these items in separate threads but figured I would group them here.

1. No heated mirrors on the 1958. For the price of these little buggies, Toyota could include some flipping heated mirrors.

2. Changing the state of traction control. Why would Toyota turn on traction control after moving from 4lo to 4hi? Does the pavement start immediately after the need for 4 lo?

Half way to 135 it improves slightly. Sometimes you remember to shut up thereby eating less shoe leather

It is leather with the Premium Package and Sensatec in the non-Premium models. 1958 models have cloth.

The Premium Package is just shy of $5k for 2027.
I have the premium package and while they claim it’s leather I’ve never once had my dog or anything else for that matter tear the leather in a car. So at this his price point I’m pretty disappointed in the quality of leather.

I also read somewhere that only part of the seat it true leather??? I’m not positive that is accurate or where I saw it but maybe that’s the problem. Who knows, I still love it just might have to redo the seats at some point.

Is it just me or the rear doors are at an awkward place and too small? I find it nearly impossible to get off from rear seats unless the door is fully open.

Are you talking about getting in and out of the rear seat? I reread what you put a couple times and was having a hard time deciphering it. I haven’t sat the back yet, but I’ll give it a shot.

Yeah, gettin is fine, but getting out is difficult

I have only gotten back there a few times for cable routing and this USB-C project I keep kicking the can on. I know what you’re talking about, but can’t really pinpoint the awkward source. You almost have to rotate your body 90 degrees and hang your legs to step out normally. When you tumble the seats forward it is clear the design included ease of access for 3rd row occupants. Plenty of SUVs do that though do I don’t know.

Someone complained awhile back that the rear doors don’t open far enough, and while it hasn’t created an issue for me, I wonder if that plays into this.
