The “I love my land cruiser but hate this about it” thread…..

Not being able to access most of the settings while driving.. like why can't I lower the screen brightness while I am driving? If it is bothering me while I am driving, I should be able to lower it.

Three main things, a couple have already been mentioned:
  1. Range/fuel tank size needs to be better.
  2. Warnings that won't go away if you are in any offroad mode, requiring you to pull over and dig through menus to shut things off that it should have automatically shut off once it popped up the warning the first time. Then repeat to turn them back on when you get back to pavement. This seems more worthy of a safety recall than the rear camera display!
  3. I wish it had about an inch more ground clearance.
Not something I hate, but since this is one of two hybrids I have at the moment I wish it was more like my other hybrid (which is a PHEV) or like the PHEV RAV4 in having a larger electric motor and larger battery. It helps in a number of ways that aren't immediately obvious, like way more regenerative braking when you've got a larger battery to store the energy. Our PHEV can regenerative brake all the way from the Eisenhower Tunnel to Denver. But I understand there would be technical challenges with adding that much battery -- it would probably need more active cooling and might take up even more cargo space unless they get more creative about it.

Yes this is a pain especially when it puts you in timeout for pressing too many buttons within a given period. If there is a passenger detected in the front passenger seat, they should be able to use the system unhindered. Trying to turn off the display at night (esp. in bad weather) should be much easier.

If I sold my Land Cruiser I can’t think of another vehicle to replace it. So much fun off road and still very compliant on road.
I agree with this completely! I waited a decade for Toyota to make something that would actually be an upgrade from my 2014 FJC TTUE MT with full time 4WD.

I love my LC250, my biggest peeve is the range. The previous model in Australia had a fuel tank with a 150 litre capacity. The present model has a reduced capacity to 110 litres as they fitted the spare wheel underneath, which is a pain as it is almost a one third reduction. We have to travel long distances where fuel can be hard to get or if you can its quality can be somewhat suspect. In the future I will change it out for an after market long range version but no one seems to be able to recalibrate the trip computer as yet - I’ll wait and see what happens in this area.

I have a few beefs. The biggest one is that the hybrid system seems pointless in the LC. It doesn't add much power or range, while adding complication and taking up a lot of space in the luggage area. At least Toyota did not put their problematic V6 in the LC.
The small fuel tank also makes no sense. Some of the space taken up by the hybrid battery could go towards a larger fuel tank.
Also, why does it require premium fuel?
Then there are the issues with driving it in cold weather - the small battery and poor winter starting.
It does drive well in warmer weather, and has good traction in adverse conditions.
Would I buy it again? Probably not.

The electric motor massively increases power in the low-RPM ranges. Critical for many off-roading scenarios.

Personally, i find the hybrid system one of my favorite features. Instant torque for over-taking, hills, offroad obstacles, and towing, et al. Not to mention the electric a/c compressor which is fantastic in traffic because you have proper a/c with the engine off and not burning fuel. The 2500watt 120 outlet is great too. I can run an electric chainsaw and all sorts of high wattage appliances with it.

Are you actually in France right now? I know the forum glitches from time to time, but it'd be a whole lot cooler if you were!

My only complaint is why the trip meter setup is separate from the mpgs....never seen this before
Agree. The trip meters are too far in the options. They should be front and center and very, very easy to reset instantly without having to think about screens.

I am! Spending a couple weeks in Paris with my family, celebrating my daughter’s high school graduation.

My main gripes:
  • not offering dual power seats w/ memory except on the Premium trim is an insult for a vehicle in this price range. Literally the cheapest car I can rent in the USA has this available.
  • not having the rear seats fold flat is a dumb unforced error. I found a workaround with a platform in the back but cmon, this should be table stakes at this point.
  • I. Will. Never. Pay. For. Toyota. Nav. Stop making it the default landing screen. Let me disable it.
what's your workaround platform?

If you do not share pictures, especially those with LCs in them, you are failing at your responsibilities as a top contributor to this forum. We're going to have to strip some of those likes away should you fail to comply. Either that, or lunch money doubles :ROFLMAO:

No real complaints just annoyed that the seat fan/warmer would be off when I turn my LC on even if I’ve had left it on.

My heated seat or ventilate seat buttons stay on from last use, for passenger too. I have 2025 premium and toyota connect.

I hate the leather or fake leather whichever it may be. Only 3000 miles and I already have 2 rips from my dog. I’ve owned Toyotas with leather seats for a long time and never had a problem. Storage is an issue with the cool box but I’m making it work. Otherwise I absolutely love it.
