Seems like a lot of transmissions are failing....?

Well add another to the list. I was running some errands this morning, and coming to a stop, the Land Cruiser shuddered and a whole bunch of lights came on including a hybrid malfunction error. We were about a 1/2 mile from a dealer so I stopped in. I just got a call that the transmission is gone. I’ll hear more Monday about a loaner etc. just great…

Sorry to hear that, there's a number of threads people experiencing this along with on the Tacoma and 4runner. Hope there's some answers as to what is going on with these sooner rather than later.
Definitely above the competition. I monitor iATN, a professional technician's forum, and without question Toyota products have the fewest issues.
Just going to continue to LOL over these threads that are mostly hearsay and my service advisor said….Sure, we have an owner claiming a failure here. Sorry that happened but let’s not let a couple of failures cause a panic. You’ll never know the failure rate and your guesses are a waste of time. Feel free to waste it. I wont.
Yes, a certain number of units will have a parts failure, just like any complicated mechanical/electronic, software defined construct. Some failed in 24, some more will fail in 25, more in 26…etc.No surprise there and nothing to be worried about. If yours breaks, Toyota will replace the part and fix it.
No mystery there. Can we move on now and just enjoy our vehicles?

"hearsay"? They appear to be 1st-person experiences. However, for sure, inevitably a certain percentage of failures will happen, and a small percentage of those will post on a forum such as this. Admittedly, the title of this thread could have been better. However, not a waste of my time...
This is a really helpful comment for anyone who experiences this identical transmission failure and posts about it in the transmission failure thread and has to live without their primary vehicle for 2 months while waiting for a backordered transmission. Just like, move on and enjoy your vehicle, man!

My LC250 is almost to 10,000 miles. I’ve towed, had a lift with a pretty aggressive offset since about 500 miles. I’ve had zero issues out of my transmission. My average speed is about 80 on the interstate daily. I’ve had the stated select-drive malfunction one time that I’ve seen posted. I had the dealer look at it and I which they claims it’s “okay” so I just go with it. Another thing to note mine doesn’t seem to hunt for gears like I’ve see people post. Maybe that is linked to the transmission that have failed?

Great update by the service dept! If only my dealer was so proactive...
Yeah it surprised me too when it showed up in my email. They have been good so far, even got it looked at same day (SAT) with me just dropping in after my dash lit up.
