Slackers didn't even clean the area before chucking it on. That new piece looks more likely to get knocked off than the original securing clip.
Not what i would have designed (i like to overkill)
A brilliant engineering mentor reminded me that while I'm capable of designing it better, only the best engineers can design it cheaper. So maybe that will give you a warm fuzzy.

Yes it does. I'm going to ziptie mine. Not going to waste the time driving to the dealership for them to put that piece of plastic on the clip.

Yeah, I'll stay with the zip tie also.
In case anyone wants to up your zip-tie-game, this is how you put zipties around square corners.

And yes, it does bother me that I wasn't able to cut them off completely clean. It's a tight fit up there for the clippers.
