I wonder if there is a part number for the clamshell. I would much rather just buy it and install it myself since it seems pretty straightforward

I would expect that part to be unobtanium over the parts counter for well into 2027.

Toyota has no official fix to date. I.E.- what clamshell?

You would still need the dealer to inspect it to clear the recall from vehicle history, if you care. I would rather install myself too.

I feel similarly, though considering how the problem has evolved, I would expect Toyota's legal department would have requirements for their dealer network to be installing whatever the remedy proves to be.
