So what are you and @HammerTheWall doing to get that?? 30 MPG REALLY???? That's amazing. Do you try to drive easy? Or do you feel you need to get your peddle down a bit to get the electric boost to engage?

The sweet spot is really between 35-55 for that, once you’re up to speed you coast a bit then lightly feather and if it’s flat or a decline you will be above 30 mpg. Any incline or anything about 60 and it drops.

I'm not really doing anything different...if anything, I drive a little quicker than I used to because of the peppiness in Sport. There is a sweet spot around 78-82 where I'll go from about 17 mpg to 20-22 mpg on my highway trips. Below that 70-75 the mpg is worse, probably just the gearing.

In that context what are you referring to with 78-82 and 70-75?

There is a lot of info in the chat group on how to get 25+ MPG. I can get upper 20's on mixed use flat terrain any time I want for as long as I want.

Assuming you haven't modded the vehicle and are willing to learn about the hybrid system, I would think most people could do it. If nothing else, it is a good skill to have if you need to stretch out the distance between fill ups with our small tank.

Hint: use the excellent gauges to drive by tachometer and stay within 1500 to 1800 RPM range as much as possible.

Just for fun, try it out. Drive down a flat stretch of highway at 60MPH and measure your tach and fuel consumption gauges and see what they say. If you are in that sweet spot (15K) you will be on your way to the quarter club.

I'm now at around 14,200 miles.... I can say I definitely get better milage than when I first started!! I no longer change my adverage milage meter as It has a milage per trip... I adverage about 19.5mpg with mixed driving.... I can drive 4 miles to the gym and get 17mpg on a good day, then drive to Church and get 25... It appears the LC mpg hates, and I mean hates.... short trips on surface streets... (Ie non-HWY). This hybryd system is not designed like the Prius which loves starts and stops on short trips. Still.... better than the 11 mpg from the old LC!

2025 LC 1958 edition with 265/70-18 Bridgestone Dueler AT Ascent tires.

Just hit 4,000 miles on the odometer.

Averaging 23mpg in city driving.

Just completed a 750 mile round-trip to Southern Indiana while towing a 300 pound dirtbike on a 350 pound Kendon trailer and averaged 22.5mpg for the trip. ECO mode, average highway speed was 65mph to 70mph on Shell 93 Octane gas.

Very happy with this Land Cruiser on the highway - seats are comfortable and ergonomics fit me well.

On the interstate, we have several with a 75 mph limit, and I've noticed that if I set the cruiser to 70-75 I get worse mileage than if I set it to 78-82 mph, probably because of hitting a "sweet spot" with the gearing and speed.

I waited to post here to finish up a couple 2k mile runs to shore up some holes in my testing including changes in local traffic density and omission of break-in miles . All based on manual calculations pump-to-pump compensating for my (proven) 3% disparity between actual and indicated speed/odo. Never filled with less than 91 in 8,000 miles travelled.

Long term averages:
-91 Octane: 23.5 mpg
-93 Octane: 24.8 mpg

Now that it is out of the way I am satisfied with using 91 whenever I can conveniently hit the 3 stations within my normal commute. Outside of that, I am never thinking about this subject IRT my LC ever again. Going to throw the steno pads out immediately following posting this

Before purchasing my 2025 LC, I expected avg 18 MPG based on all the YouTube videos I had watched. I’m easily getting 22-25 MPG.

Its not a real world tested numbers but i found this chart showing the resistance at different speeds based on drag coefficient and area.

The drag force at 70 mph versus 40 mph is about double. Going from 55mph versus 70mph is a 62% increase in in resistance.
