The consumer report periodical received here 10-10-25 gives the Land Cruiser a very similar score as last year. So CR feels the vehicle has not changed and scored a 61 on their rating scale for this years model 2025. This will likely apply to 2026 model year as well.

Knowing this its still a beautiful advanced tech wonder. Great for the woods or the beach. A little monster for certain. Live a little and roll the dice for a fun ride...

Consumer Reports did a YouTube video on the new LC250 over a year ago. I always thought highly of their articles. But while watching that video, their ‘snootiness’ and arrogance came out for all to see. I no longer watch anything that they put out. Yes.. Agree, CR dinged the LC on wind noise, rough engine and tranny. However, they are snobby toward off road vehicles in general. Though they did give plus marks for controls, and super off road capabilities...

Doubtful that CR test ground tracks can hold a candle to the real overall values this vehicle possesses. It was not recommended but scored #3 in its class behind Honda Passport and Mazda CX 70. Not by much scoring. My last SUV scored poorly by CR was the best ever for 20 years in my garage. Reliability is extremely important, and Toyota across the product line is superior in that regard.

Nearly 30k miles on my 1-year old LC, of the issues you mentioned I have

• Squeaking Brakes
• Replaced windshield once
• Rough shifting - low and high speeds

The way I see it, I'd rather suffer through these issues with Toyota - known for their reliability. Keep in mind they're doing full engine replacements for Tundras, what other brand would do that?

Also, these issues, across the sheer volume of cars they're selling is tiny in comparison. Ford surpassed the annual recall record back in July lol. Given the scale they operate at, and the new laws/climate emissions against them, they're forced to amp up engineering.

Hello all! Please don’t roast me here. I really really want this vehicle. I have a ‘26 on order which should be delivered in less than a month now. I’ve been pouring over this forum and other LC specific groups. The below issues have me really concerned about following through on this vehicle and that would be very disappointing, as I’ve already sold my daily driver and have my truck slated for trade in. I want one vehicle that is capable off road in Colorado as well as a solid every day driver. Everyone’s experience with these vehicles, I’m sure, are different. However these have me second guessing myself and I think if one researches long enough that they can talk themselves out of anything.

Problems:

• Squeaking Brakes
• Apple Car Play disconnecting, I use it every day.
• Popping Center Console noises
• Easy Crack windshield
• Ineffectiveness of OEM Roof rack rails for basic attachments, such as a bubble box unless it has a perfectly flat bottom. I have an OEM 3/4 rack on my build.
• Transmission issues/failed transmissions/rough shifts at low speeds.
• Small battery
• Key fob/rear door unlock & very limited range
• Easily chipped pain

Am I making a mountain out of a mole hill here? This will be my most expensive purchase besides my house. And financially it’s not an issue. But I don’t want to get stuck with a $70k vehicle with a slide of “known issues”. Maybe they’ve addressed some of this on the ‘26? Anyone driving one yet?

@BKLC Very similar to your experience! 30K on my 14 month old 2024.

• Squealing brakes - repaired with TSB and now perfect
• One windshield due to bad rock crack
• last but not least $22K in damage to the front-end from a "not my fault" collision. All repaired with OEM parts and work done beautifully with vehicle back to like new.

Just did my own DIY 30K service - oil change, front and rear differential fluid changes and transfer case fluid change.

Don't forget the prop shaft zerks! While other Toyotas have moved to non-greasable ones, the LC has stuck with tradition and still has the greasable variety. Easy peasy on this LC and no panels have to be removed to get to all 5 of them (rear yoke is sealed).

And NOT one Toyota dealer has attended to greasing the zerks on Miss Daisy, despite me asking for them to do so!!!

It appears that getting the dealership to do this has been an infuriating experience based on feedback from other forums as well. They’re so used to the sealed ones nowadays. My problem with that is that the greasable ones have a (deliberately) less than perfect seal to allow for purging, as evidenced by the grease being slung around with just regular use. As such, they will as sure as day dry out eventually. There’s even reports of dealers that said they’d do it, got paid for it but didn’t execute.

Thankfully it’s so easy on the LC even a caveman can do it. Just a $20 gun with a quick release tip + $8 tube and a few minutes under the truck.

I find the largest issue with CarPlay to be the lack of a persistent Toyota function menu, which we need to reduce taps to get from CarPlay to the radio stations. They can fix that in an update; I hope they do.

Yes, that menu would be great! As a work around, shared by another member, is to use the steering wheel button to change the "Mode".......... works great!

I think it's an option. In that screenshot, you can see where you can toggle it to full screen (top left). The question I guess is how to minimize it back to that shared menu setup
