I’ve seen a few posts about this already but wanted to give my own experience and see if anyone with similar issues had spoken with a dealer or gotten it resolved some other way.
I have a 2027 LCLC. Just hit 1k miles. When I am slowing down to approach a stop sign, for example, a few things happen:
When I depress the brake pedal at speed (say 15-30mph) it feels like something grabs the car, ie harder braking than what I am applying. I believe this is the regenerative braking from what I understand. If I keep depressing the brake gradually but steadily and come to a stop no problems (need to get the timing exactly right). However, if I leave the brake pedal depressed where it is or even ease up a bit, it feels like what grabbed the car initially lets go and I sort of lurch forward. At the same time, it also feels like a really wonky downshift from either 3-2 or 2-1. As in it makes a clunking noise and I feel it in conjunction with the lurch (from what I presume is friction brakes taking over and my brake pedal not being depressed enough to match the regenerative braking brake level).
It happens pretty much every time I drive the vehicle. I’ve gotten better at avoiding it by simply either braking later and harder (which feels unsafe) or braking normally but then depressing the brake pedal more than I feel I should be doing and I end up slowing to 2-3 mph until I am 30-40ft behind the vehicle in front of me then rolling the remaining distance and finally stopping.
I don’t feel as if this should be normal in a car this nice. I mean I drive pretty normal and safe (I know that means different things to different people) and slowing to a stop without lurching feels like a basic thing a car should be able to do.
What’s interesting and I don’t think has been posted here before is the following:
I sent it out on a trail the other day and decided to mess around with MTS. I had my fun then headed home but forgot to turn MTS off. I thought I had finally figured out the car! No more lurching no more clunking! The power delivery felt off but the braking was smooth like a normal car. Then when I got home I realized what happened and figured something with the computers must’ve made the brakes feel better/smoother.
If this is the case, it seems as if maybe a calibration of the brakes or transmission may be possible to give a smoother ride for me?
To be fully clear, I have turned of all PDA, PSA, PGA and whatever other fancy acronym exists in the vehicle settings, so it’s not the car braking for itself (at least I don’t think so if I’ve turned everything off). Other than that absolutely love the car, too much fun.
But fixing this quirk for me would take it to the next level.
I’ve been thinking of taking it to the dealer since I know for a fact they will be able to reproduce it.
Appreciate any thoughts or comments!
