Brakes SQUEAL while backing

Welcome to the asylum Cleteb.

I don’t know what’s going on. It is the number in my phone record that I called, and the same one listed else where on this forum..

Could you have miss dialed?
I thought this too, and checked again. Yes I dialed the right number.

Same thing happened with me, after many purposeful hard stops. The squeal went away for a week, and then returned.
I have had mine LC since April and was having the same issue with brakes - but on one of the threads a gentleman discusses doing the stops repeatedly to bed the brakes (I believe that is the term he used). But he gives very specific instructions on how to do this. The first time, I just hit the brakes hard a few times at low speeds probably a half dozen times to see if it would have any effect. It actually did fix the squeal but only for a week or so. But, i remembered he suggested that you do it repeatedly until you smell the burn inside the vehicle - and then drive for several miles to allow the brakes to cool off. This past weekend I set the brakes repeatedly over about a 5 - 6 mile drive as I happened to be out early and didn't have any traffic around me in our rural area. I never actually smelled the brakes but I got them hot enough that I could see smoke coming off the front brakes. I couldn't tell about the rear. Then I drove the vehicle for probably 15 miles or so total. It hasn't been a week yet, so I can't say how long it will work. But I have not heard the squeal yet, and I will say the brakes seem to be gripping better and stopping better than they were before. I wish I understood this concept a little better but apparently it is wearing off some protective?? layer on the brakes? Maybe someone with some technical expertise can explain that -

IMO it's the pads having an even wear in relation to the surface plane of the rotor and the amount of "bleed-off" of the caliper piston(s) which would allow more distance between the pads and rotor. On many different models the pads have a stainless steel spring which assists the pads in separating and "bleed-off" of the caliper piston(s).

Again IMO, if there were pads that had the locating holes in edge of the pad's backing plate (where the spring hooks into), that would retrofit into the LC's calipers (along with the spring), it would permanently fix the squealing issue.

This happened to me several months ago, when my girl friend and I visited Brasstown Bald, the highest peak in Georgia. Coming down from the parking lot, i tried using engine braking to slow down, but it didn’t work. Miss Daisy’s brakes were stinking like crazy. They were quiet for about a week after that. But they started squealing soon thereafter. 😳🤔😬
