Yeah, sorry about that. For some reason I thought he had 17's on there as well. I'm not really familiar with Delium Terra Raider tires but a quick search came back with them being pretty light, around 43-44 lbs.

Damn near 300 miles so far:0 The tires seem okay so far not noisy at all & nice ride - but have not been on freeway yet.

There are a ton of threads on mileage on here. I really don't think your tires are causing the big of a MPG loss. I say maybe a couple unless they are some super soft/high friction compound designed for off roading.

I'd say run it for a few more hundred miles and get out on the freeway to see if it helps with the break-in. Maybe bump the tire pressure due to the higher volume and it being an LT tire. If you're currently at 33psi, jump to 37-38psi (I run my winter 275/70R18 LT tires in this range).

I've also noticed this vehicles mpg is the more reactive to driving habits and conditions than any other vehicle I have owned. In my rural, hilly area averaging about 45mph I get about 18 mpg. On the highway, it will jump as high as 24 (stock michelin) and 22 (Nokian winter LT).

Thanks for the insight - I appreciate - from what I've read going to 275's over 285's might add 3mpg - is that BS.

I don't think it's BS, but there are quite a few factors. Compound, tread design, weight could all very easily add or subtract 3 mpg's or more. Wheel weight might also come into play.

I am about to mount up a set of TRD BBS wheels that came with 285/70R18 Falken AT3s, I'll be able to tell you more concretely about the MPG hit in about a week.

Generally speaking though, I do prefer skinnier, taller tires like the Toyo 34x10.5R17s. If only they made them in an 18" variant. Lots of guys running 17" wheels like the 255/80R17s as well. But the "look" can be quite divisive for some.

But TBH, I think you are still in the break-in period. I can't help but wonder if you having no highway time on the vehicle might be impacting the LCs fuel mapping?
