Low gas milage

I have a '25 with 20" Nitto Ridge grapplers. If lucky i get 20 mph on the road. My 06 4runner, v8 with 380,000 gets 18mpg on the road!! 20 years later, 4 cylinder hybrid turbo ... only 2 mpg more!!! Piss poor.

You say “only 2 mpg more” and I counter with “that’s an 11% gain!”

Welcome, btw! my '98 4Runner with a spring chicken like 288K did a 200 mile road trip yesterday- 21.56mpg with all 3.4 liters doing their thing hauling its 5300 pounds around. Land Cruiser sure is nicer though. And heavier. And hopefully even more awesome off the road!

In all honesty, the flow of traffic is well over 65 mph here in Southern California

Driving cross country in the LC or any other vehicle; I would set the cruise control at 80 mph and just enjoy the ride

Cruise control is a factor that should be considered or eliminated for those trying to improve the MPG, Im 100% positive manual driving can achive better MPG than cruisecontrol

Cruise control is a factor that should be considered or eliminated for those trying to improve the MPG, Im 100% positive manual driving can achive better MPG than cruisecontrol

TSS 3.0 cruise control works just fine, regardless of which state borders that you are operating within. Traffic Jam Assist is awesome! TSS 4.0 will be even better! But there are definately times when it would be safer not to use it. Like on the road between 101 and highway 1.

Miss Daisy is always on cruise control when we travel. But, if in hilly and very curvy areas in the Appalachian’s, it can be advantageous to not use cruise control, and allow the vehicle to slow down a few MPH going up hills, and around mountain curves, potentially saving gasoline when TSS kicks in the turbo, when on cruise control. This was especially true in my 2015 long wheel base, extended body, tall roof Transit with its 3.5L twin turbo ecoboost engine. That thing would pull a loaded 14’ cargo trailer right off it’s wheels.

Cruise control works great, but it’s not gonna optimize your MPg with all the sporadic drivers on 101

I'm new to the forum. Just picked up my LC last week and was prepared for the low MPG I've been reading about. We also have a 2025 RAV hybrid and have noticed that if we drive in sport mode and feather the pedal, we get 45-50 MPG which is better than eco or normal mode. My guess is that the battery boost from sport mode allows me to back off the pedal sooner than the other modes and take advantage of coasting more. We live in the burbs so not a lot of stop and go like in the bigger cities and not a lot of long highway stretches either. So I've been trying this on my LC and so far, I am seeing about 21 MPG. I will admit I have a very heavy foot so these two new Toyotas are making me change my driving behaviors quite a bit. Not a bad thing.

NOTE your mileage will improve with time.
The hot TX summer (AC on full every day) has dropped my premium 2025 LC 250 mileage to 21.1 at ~9,400 miles from 21.7 pre-summer driving.
LLC is my everyday driver with the original 20" stock ToYo tires. I drive a combo of highway and street traffic. Extended highway usage is always 23+ mph. I use Premium Fuel and ECO mode all the time. I do not baby the gas pedal in traffic or on the highway, but I do coast a bit when I'm coming to stop signs and stoplights, when traffic allows.

16-18 mpg in the city is about where these are if you drive in Sport Mode like I do.
I am just over 2 yrs in / just under 9k miles on my 2024 and this has been steady city avg in Sport.
