I have BS200 unit hooked up to the 12v battery to start engine in case the battery dead.
With BS200 I can monitor the voltage and charging status of the unit and the battery.
By observation, the 12v battery is not charged while in D shift or driving. When park with engine is on, the battery starts to get charge. my daily drive distance is short (8mi from home to office) It is how hybrid system works ?! The battery drained a little bit every day and I have to fully charge it by Norco once awhile !

Regular vehicles, whenever engine is on and while driving, the battery is charged by alternator

It kinda sucks that people are having issues with their batteries. I’m guessing many lc’s must have some parasitic draw or a lot of people are adding electrical mods improperly. I have not had the issue (knock on wood), but it only drops down to ~ 20 F below zero here. My battery survived the first 2 winters.

I'm also a bit curious - haven't had any issues yet, but only have 3200 miles or so.

I have owned cars in the past that would discharge at idle, (Scout SSII, Mazda RX7 for sure, and I never was sure about that Rodeo) but what you're describing seems to be the opposite. I'm clearly no electrical engineer, but it seems strange that with such a huge, long-life battery for the hybrid system that there's a 12v battery at all. Clearly a lot I don't know, my wife's Ioniq5 has a massive battery, and a 12v too. That car charges the 12v when it's parked and off, it actually has a light on the top of the dash to tell you it's doing that.

Anyway, I installed the BS200 over the weekend, felt like relatively cheap insurance. I'm not worried about the "extend your battery life" benefits, here in Colorado we get pretty dramatic temperature swings, and battery life suffers as a result so I assume they are 3-5 year wear items, but I do like the thought that I could force a start with the app. Hope I never have to find out.

There is a lot of discussion in other forum threads about 12v batteries going bad and charging. Issue is not unique to the Land Cruiser. Stock Toyota battery does not have as much reserve as others.

I work 5-minutes away. In some cases, I'm gone for weeks at a time. Get in, drive, park. Never an issue. Replaced with AGM early on.

Unrelated but related- I installed a Dongar Pro + a while back for my dash cam. One of its display settings is voltage. Not completely accurate compared to OBDII data, as I suspect the adapter is interpolating battery voltage from 5V input and usually reads lower than actual, but it is visible from driver’s seat and does show swings of voltage, at times above 14V.
