I went to the extra trouble of removing the plastic trim around the car's factory rear camera so that I could get the best looking install possible. Was able to get the rear camera wiring through the long, accordion looking grommet and up out of the way (see the attached pics).

Problem I'm having is ....I intend to mount the rear camera on the hard plastic right next to the car's rear camera. Problem is...nothing sticks to that plastic. Not the two-sided tape that is on the camera, not the industrial velcro that will hold 15lbs and work in 140* heat. Never seen anything like it.

Did anyone have any success attaching to this plastic and if so, what did you do. I really don't want to drill a screw in there but, might be what I have to do. And, I don't want to attach the camera to the glass because I don't want to deal with cable (as where it would go when opening and closing the glass).

Here's some pics... Where I want to put the camera is where I am holding it up in the last pic. It's a pretty clean install otherwise but man, nothing will stick to that plastic.

Thanks, I had already seen that video, If I could mount my camera (get it to stick), it would look exactly like his install as the wires are routed the same way. Problem is....I can't get anything to stick at the final mounting point he used (which is on the plastic, next to the car's rear camera).

I just put mine in yesterday on that plastic, I sanded the area with 600 grit and then cleaned with alcohol and it stuck on no problem.

The original sticky failed on me too. I ended up buying double sided mounting tape from amazon, cut to size and haven’t had any issues since.

Also the pic you have makes it look like the wire is a little stressed and might contribute to it prying itself off.

Here’s mine.

What tape did you get off Amazon? Regarding the wire...it's not in the final resting position. I plan on dealing with the stress/slack once I can stick the mounting plate.

Had the 600 sandpaper. Sanded and cleaned with alcohol once, still didn't work. Tried again, and this time got adhesion. I used an industrial velcro that can withstand temps of 190*. Wanted velcro in case I had to remove the camera or reposition it. Came out pretty good. Just need to get the black sharpie out and color those white parts of the velcro black and I'm set.
