When shifting from auto to manual shifting, doesn’t it just stay in whatever gear it had you in when you bump over into manual?

On our ‘26 Premium when in Sport Mode & sliding selector to left for Manual tranny drops down a gear or two.

Are OBDII readers like ScanGaugeIII able to show current gear as one of their displays?

No sir, at least on our ‘26 Premium @ 50mph in either Normal or Eco modes & moving selector to Manual mode takes the tranny from D8 to M6.

In Sport @ 50mph tranny is holding in D7, & going Manual drops from D7 to D6. I noticed tonight once above 60mph Sport appears to go into D8 in Drive or Manual. Most of the time I run her LC in Sport Mode in Drive so it can get up & go & not lug around. Wife does some business home health visits & often stays in ECO for slow city driving.
