First Edition Roof Rack Accessory

This is something that will make my OCD screams. lol. That is the reason I don’t understand why this roof rack can’t just stay flat. Each bar is essentially an arc with reduced contact surface. Most other roof rack has flat cross bars.
You could shift the washer and it would be flat/even no issue.

Fabricated my own rack "work light" solution that lights up a campsite or tailgating area nicely at night, and is very low profile. Got some small LED lights (designed to be under fender lights for ATV's) and mounted on home-made angle mounts screwed into the existing holes in the rack, then covered them with a plexiglass hex piece that I cut from those covers that go over flourescent office lights. Ran power through the the underside of the rack and then down the channel and into the rear of the LC. Constant power from the battery then switched through standard relay, which is switched in my dash. Used one of the empty switch holes in my aftermarket center console plate to install a lighted (OEM looking) switch. Very low profile and no added wind noise or resistance of a light "sticking out" from the rack. See photos...
thats super slick. Can you link those leds you used?

I drew and printed these mounts for BD rock lights or overhead lights. They’re a work in progress - I don’t like the wire routing through the mount. They engage the slots so can’t spin, secured by a single stainless bolt and washer/nyloc nut. Also water routing so water won’t pool in the main bolt countersink.

I’ll share the file once I figure out a better way to run the wiring.

The switch is ch4x4industries.com and the led's are from Dune Gear . Requires removing your rack and fashioning some angled mounts out of aluminum, running your wiring, etc. PM me if I can help. Recently got some much needed use, picking up elderly parents in a dark driveway for dinner, and it really helped them navigate their walkers in the dark :)

Here are a couple of accessories I have found that work well with the First Edition Roof Rack.

First Yakima Eye Bolts sold in a 2 pack work perfectly. I bought mine from OK4WD. Eye Bolts (Set of 2)

The other that work well are the Maxtrax mounts from Overland Kitted. I like the fold flat option. Overland Kitted Stealth Folding MAXTRAX® Roof Rack Mount

This is great, I have the same rack and am planning to put traction boards atop. Thanks for sharing!
