Taking a closer look at the rim in the video and the one that got posted.. I don't think it's the same?

It’s the same wheel as what is shown on post 12. It’s not a “snorkel” anyway, so all is forgiven

I can’t tell if they are the Taco.4R TRD Pro wheel: PT946-35240-2F, or just the Taco wheel (leaning toward this on cursory look). Got busy all a sudden, so hopefully that gives you a start

This makes me so tempted to get a snorkel for my LC250 so I can continue to live out my dream of having a snorkel on my vehicle because I just think they are cool. I had one of my old 4Runner that I installed myself, I'd never install it myself I'd be more than happy to pay someone to properly do it.

My wife just looked over and asked why I was smiling so big. Turbo noises just make me happy. I know it’s corny but I won’t apologize. Haha

They are going to poke just like the Trailhunter bronze wheels at a shared +20mm offset on an 8.5” wide. Good news is, there are a good number of members running those TH wheels, so poke is pretty easy to see. Also, that video provides a good idea of poke as well.

FWIW, 34lbs/wheel would be a non-starter for me

Yessir. If you want <30lbs and OE wheels, you’re looking at the Sequoia/Tundra Pro BBS, the TRD upgrade wheel I was talking about earlier, the GX OT wheel, and any of the 4R/Taco TRD OR versions. Everything else is 30 or higher.

They aren’t actually calling this a snorkel on the lot, are they? I’m waiting for someone on YT to hopefully actually try and find the limitations of this thing.

I looked up a few new Land Cruisers locally to me that have them as part of their pre-installed optional equipment. They don't call it a snorkel, they are calling it SJ, High Mount Air Intake, with $980 slapped onto the MSRP for this option.

That’s what I was tracking too. I was curious if the one OP showed had that deceptive language.

I'm going to get this thread back on track and say this is not a snorkel because it has nothing to do with helping with water crossings. Almost a $1k add-on for what? Noise? Well someone makes a good point that it would eliminate wind noise. ha.

It will help you look like it is capable of fjording (yes, I went with the Norse root). You’re high enough that it actually functions as a wind detector and barometer on your rig

Lol, I know buddy. I was really just curious if the dealer was calling it a snorkel, or if any other dealer was. Just a curiosity of mine since it would be pretty deceptive.

It’s $980 because not only are you cutting into metal (I believe also installing rivnuts in the pillar) but you’re also swapping the air box pathway. It’s expensive, but you’re moving your intake from low (near the dust/dirt/debris) to high.

That does look pretty good. As some may now, those elevated intakes are to capture cleaner air, specially when in dusty trails and you are not the leader. Fort Hood anyone?
