I was on my way to work and as I reached for the steering wheel heater button I couldn't help but facepalm myself that the button is on the passenger side. C'Mon Toyota! I know that this is a R.O.W vehicle, but still. Move. The. Button.

This got me thinking: what's the biggest facepalm that you'e noticed with your Landcruiser?

I don't have a problem with it...as far as I'm concerned, ALL of the buttons on that center console are intended to be accessed by the DRIVER. Yes, some are closer to the driver's seat, and other others are closer to the passenger seat, but aside from the passenger seat warmer and temperature control, they're all for the vehicle operator to use. If you put the heated steering wheel button in a different spot, then something else has to potentially move, which someone will say doesn't make sense.

I know where that heated steering wheel button is at this point, and have no issues tapping it when I start my LC on cold mornings, or even using it while driving if I want to turn it on or off.

One of my actual real gripes is that 1st gear isn’t lower. Too much brake is needed to control steep downhills when off-roading. That’s about the worst I can come up with, an it’s not a big deal (except when I’m on those true pucker moments of wishing I wasn’t about to slide off a cliff).

Isn't this exactly what the crawl control feature should be used for?

Crawl control is using brake application to slow the vehicle. I’d prefer to have a lower gear to control the vehicle better, and have crawl control braking automation be another optional layer on top of that.

I agree the heated steering wheel button is too far from the driver. In the other car we own, the button is logically located on the steering wheel. But the following items bug me more:

• The button to turn on the 360 camera when parking is too low and too hidden on the center console. If I turn on the option to have the camera turn on automatically, it turns on every time I slow down to a stop on the street, which I find very distracting.
• There is almost no storage space for the front row. Not for sunglasses, keys, wallet, a box of tissue, etc.. The center cool box is utterly pointless. In contrast, the Highlander we had before provided all kinds of storage crevices.
• The built-in map defaults to pointing up using vehicle heading every time I start the car. There's no way to set a preference to north-up.
• The default zoom of the built-in map is way too zoomed out to be useful in local driving. It doesn't auto zoom unless it's navigating.
• The radio/entertainment UI on the main screen seems to be developed by two separate teams that never talked to each other. It jumps from screens with a white background to screens with a solid blue background and a completely different font, for no apparent reason.
• Horrendous wind noise at highway speeds.
