2025 Toyota LC 1958
My 2025 LC (model 1958) was purchased brand new mid January of this year. I had absolutely no issues for the first 2000 miles. Then, out of the blue, I started noticing an annoying and sometimes loud squealing/squeaking noise when I back up. Always happens on first drive in the morning, and also throughout the day, about 9 out of 10 times. I am very frustrated to have this issue with a new car that I paid over $60K for and have made 2 payments on so far. I took it in to the dealership for my first service at just under 5,000 miles and also told them about the issue. They claimed they never heard it and after inspection said everything looked “perfect”. Please someone give me some useful advice on what my next step should be.

Welcome to the asylum Lucylee76.

There may be twenty eleven threads on this topic on this forum. It also occurs in the Lexus Gx550, which is built in the same factory, on the same assembly line as some of our Land Cruisers.. Lexus has already issued a TSB for the problem which allows their dealers to fix the problem at no cost to the owners. The fix involves replacing the rotors and brake pads.

Many inmates in the other threads recommend calling the corporate Toyota Brand Engagement office and lodging a complaint with them (yes, Toyota corporate knows about the problem) so that hopefully Toyota will issue the same recall for us as they did for the GX550 owners. Go figure.

Good luck.

I have the same issue. A very loud screeching sound as I back up. I had the oil changed at 1000 miles, and forgot to ask them to check it out, which I will do when I have the oil changed at 5000 miles. Let’s hope it’s nothing serious.

Same problem with my 2024 LC. I complained to the dealer when I had oil change at 3,000 miles and they said this is normal... I just sent an email to Toyota just now to complain. It is so loud and embarrassing for a brand new vehicle to do this.

I noticed this sound when off-roading in heavy sand, gravel, and eventually a dust storm and everything getting dirty and gunked up. Once I cleaned everything out after the trip, the sound went away.

I don't think this is 100% the cause at all but it's like a bad back getting worse on a crappy mattress. Still something to consider and maybe cleaning out the calipers and wheels MAY help like it helped my case.

Again this is by no means capturing everyone's situation and I think the wheels and calipers being dirty revealed a bigger problem that eventually a recall would fix.

Can someone provide the email or address to write to Toyota regarding this and other issues. The only way they will fix it for good is if we band together and be heard. So funny how I see all these posts from users that have complained to hundreds of different toyota shops and almost all get the same “didnt find anything, everything looks great” answers. Come on Toyota, 70+K to wake up the neighborhood when I back out to go to work?? Ridiculous

Call the Toyota Brand Engagement 800-331-4331.

Complaining on this forum is like wetting your pants in the dark. Feels good to you, but doesn’t do a damn thing to get Toyota to step up to the plate and take care if it’s customers.

Funny enough, I just crossed 2k and mine is doing it when I reverse in the morning, typically when the morning is cool (upper 60's, not cold) and humid.

My previous F150 did it, my 4R did it, etc. IMHO it's an environmental thing. If it keeps doing it throughout the day, it's an issue.

I understand what your saying, but my FJ Cruiser doesnt do it, wifes Toyota Venza doesnt do it and my daughters Subaru doesnt do it. All parked in the same driveway. So I think its an issue.

I'm on my 15th new vehicle and I've never had this problem before and they've all been in the same environment. This is my first Toyota....and it squeals like a pig.

Call Toyota Brand Mgmt at 800-331-4331 and complain. This is the only way we will get a fix. Thanks.

Did you need to resurrect every post on the forum about squealing brakes, not to mention post the same shit 4 times???

As long as he is, this would be a great time for the mods to merge them all!

What you ask is almost not possible, There would be those that would complain in the very thread that was cleaned up as to why their post was moved. In less than 2 hours there would be just as many "rabbit holes". It would be a 24/7 task.

I'm no expert on the current version of the forum software but I thought I saw there was now a tool to merge entire threads (as opposed to just moving individual posts).

I have thought about volunteering to become an admin to do only redundant thread merges except that in any case I suspect you're right about it being a 24/7 task...

If a thread only contained posts inline with the title it wouldn't be so bad. There are very few threads that don't have at least a dozen rabbit hole posts in them. So which ones are moved and a rabbit hole post doesn't have a thread that it would fit in to etc...........

Bottom line: if folks would actually reply with helpful information within the subject, it would be a non-issue.
