Tailwind, right?100% Correct on all points. On the good news front, post 10k mile service and 2nd oil change I averaged 24.5mpg with cruise set on 75 on a 400 mile trip.
NOT normal, mine too! Started at 1500 miles, at dealer now- they tried to convince me this is normal; but I won't accept that- I don't care, replace the rotor, pads, everything..... unacceptable for a brand new vehicle....I'm coming up on 1,000 miles, but am still getting a significant amount of brake squeal baking down my driveway in reverse each morning. Is this normal?
I just talked to my service rep again. She followed up with Toyota and they still have not released a service recommendation. The service manager admitted Toyota knows it’s a problem after I showed him that Lexus is already put out a service bulletin to install a shim kit.NOT normal, mine too! Attached. I think there's an updated Rev 1 to add 2025 MY, not sure is anything else changed.Has anyone read the Lexus TSB on what they do to fix it in a Lexus GX550?
I had the same problem at 1500 miles and waited for my 5k miles to take it in. They resurfaced the front calibers and it stopped making noise for a while. I again took it in at 7k miles and they resurfaced the rear calibers. I am still having problems. This is unacceptable. My next step is to go to Toyota corporate to let them know that this is not working.NOT normal, mine too! Agreed. We need to address the issue. If enough people voice their concern about this, hopefully Toyota will make a fix.Skimming is never the solution. It is direct replacement. I had the same issue. From Day 1, and should be replaced in entirety. But they never understood which was the problematic issue here. I showed the TSB of Lexus. And it took a while for them a similar platform truck had the issue. And they took up with Toyota and then issued the directive to replace. Fortunately it was the same part and it stopped. Unlike the Lexus TSB, They have redesigned those parts having the issue. But have not yet released a redesigned part for Toyota LC250. Too me was more of the calliper springs and pads. Though the issue has completely stopped. But the new brake pad sucks. I dont know if this is becoz of the added wt to the Skid plates in its entirety( 10mm) for front to the mid rear until the actuator.
Maybe someone could start a new thread of quiet aftermarket brake pads/rotors that they have installed to replace Toyota OEM?Agreed. We need to address the issue. If enough people voice their concern about this, hopefully Toyota will make a fix.
How do you do this?I had the same problem at 1500 miles and waited for my 5k miles to take it in. They resurfaced the front calibers and it stopped making noise for a while. It’s been a known issue with other Toyotas, eg the Tundras a few years ago. They did a TSB on them (or was it a recall, IDKProbably brake pads not well aligned..
