Yes, A fusible link is nothing more than a fuse. The main FL in the LC is rated at 350 amps, the second FL is rated at 200amps. In this case the under-hood main cable was accidentally shorted to ground which blew the 350a FL. He was successful in bypassing the blown FL with a "stand alone" FL meant for an AC (if I remember correctly).

That's how I have mine wired. I chose to run a 8 gage wire from the spare lug to a resettable 60 amp circuit breaker and everything else from there (via a BUSS bar). My thought process is......... nothing I run from the 12v battery will exceed 60amps, so should a direct short occur the 60 CB would trip long before any OEM wires let out smoke and as a bonus, you can manually trip the CB and effectively shut off the power to the BUSS bar and all added circuits if needed for maintenance/additional work.
