Are both you folks using CarPlay or by chance using Android Auto? I have a 2035 LC w\ premium and using AA and don't have the bar myself I'm curious if this might be a CarPlay only item or if AA will have/get it. Thanks!
I am using Apple.

Gotcha, thanks for the quick reply! I'll see if I can maybe do some testing with an iPhone that I have around versus AA and see if there is anything special I find out. From what I've read and how AA works vs. CarPlay the AA may be limited since it takes over the whole display unit as a mirror this it doesn't allow other UI to show even though technically it should be able to do a split screen. Thanks again!I am using Apple.
I’m not them, but I have a 2025, use Android Auto, and definitely do NOT have itAre both you folks using CarPlay or by chance using Android Auto? So essentially CarPlay has the ability to integrate much easier and better with manufacture's infotainment systems which is why when using CarPlay the Toyota UI is still able to show on the left hand side. I'm sure there is some setting to have ti show on either the left or right side of the screen I'd image depending on the driver's position of the car.CarPlay essentially takes over the car's infotainment screen while it's active, displaying its own interface on top of the car's native UI, but with the ability to integrate certain vehicle information like fuel level or climate settings, effectively allowing the car's UI to remain partially visible depending on the car manufacturer's implementation and CarPlay design.
Now I know this doesn't help full answer the reasoning as to why a 2025 model LC unit is showing the Toyota UI side bar and those that are reporting that their 2024 are not. My only suggestions to folks is to make sure that you have the latest iOS installed on your phone which I think is something like 18.2 as of the time of this posting and what was on the iPhone I tested with. If folks want to post model information of the infotainment systems I'm happy to double check my versions and see if they match up, here is basic information that you might be able to use to compare versions:No, Android Auto does not show a car manufacturer's UI on the screen; instead, it overlays its own simplified interface on the car's display, presenting compatible apps from your Android phone in a car-friendly format, essentially acting as a "bridge" between your phone and the car's infotainment system; you will primarily see the Android Auto interface, not the car manufacturer's full native UI.
i have the sidebar on my 1958 using carplayQuestion for everyone that has the side bar do you have the 12” or 8” display? I have a 1958 and only have the 8” screen and my LC was made in Sept and the bar is missing. I am wondering if it’s missing due to lack of screen real estate.
I also have a FE and I don’t have the side bar on mine when using CarPlay with latest iOS version. I can only access it through the Toyota app.I never paid attention to my screen, until this thread so I went and checked. I have the side bar on mine. I purchased one of the very 1st FEs and have not uploaded or changed anything in the settings that I can remember.......
But the sidebar just seems to be additional carplay apps.
So took a few minutes this morning to play around with my LC and Android Auto and the iPhone I have with CarPlay.
TL;DR - Android Auto users we're out of luck thanks to Google's implementation of how Android Auto functions and takes over the whole display unit. CarPlay users should be able to have both the Toyota UI and the CarPlay integration because Apple actually spent time to implement their design and integration it seemed.
So I have a 2025 LC/LC w\ Premium package. I can confirm that the wireless Android Auto is working and that there is no side bar showing as others have mentioned here that are Android.
Connecting and setting up the iPhone that I have available I am able to access CarPlay both via USB-C cable and Wireless connection and have the Toyota UI show on the left hand side along with CarPlay active and functional and working as described/shown in the pictures that were originally posted.
Doing some sleuthing around the Internet and reading more into the difference of CarPlay vs. Android Auto they similar in nature of the implementation and functionality; HOWEVER CarPlay operates slightly differently than how Android Auto implements. See below quoted information that should explain the reason why CarPlay (iPhone) folks are able to see the Toyota UI vs. us Android Auto folks:

Unfortunately, for us Android Auto Folks we'll never get this functionality because Google handles the implement of Android Auto as a full blown control system and takes over the whole infotainment screen thus we are stuck with having to press the "Toyota" app button to exit AA and then return to the normal Toyota infotainment functions and control radio/SXM/etc.

Part no: 8610060610
SAM ID: CBAAAYFOJR
SCOMO ID: 21TNPNAC0011HU0000
Version: 2036
This information was what I pulled from the top part, it seems the different sections have similar information and maybe the version is slightly different, but maybe it will offer something to compare against, the top line of the "Model ID" was a specific reference to my VIN.
Hope this helps/gives folks some information/hope that are iPhone ecosystem users .
My version shows 1810 as well…no sidebar. There’s the difference.iPhone user here as well with the latest 18.2 installed and no side-bar. My version differs. From the top part:
Parts no: matches
SAM ID: CBAAANNYPE
SCOMO ID: matches
Version: 1810
I guess that's our answer.
You may already know this, but the sidebar in question shows the Toyota menu items. Example - it shows the music symbol (♫) that one would select to change to a different music source, such as the radio.I never paid attention to my screen, until this thread so I went and checked. I have the side bar on mine. I purchased one of the very 1st FEs and have not uploaded or changed anything in the settings that I can remember.......

I wondered the same thing as I can only find USB-C ports in my LC.Are you all downloading this info via USB? If so, where is the USB port?
