Apple Car Play with Toyota App Side Bar

To this question I can report that it appears that in the latest LC’s coming off the production line have this issue resolved.
My LC is an end-of-December build, 2025 LC/LC Premium package that came off of the truck a few days ago. (Jan 11 2025). Media screen Toyota sidebar always present with Apple CP. It has worked consistently.
I did ask my dealer to make sure all updates were done and they showed me the prep sheet where all updates done at port and at the dealer’s make-ready procedure. Interesting no brake squeal or brake rotor rust - yet.
Thanks for the update. I was at the dealer this morning for the 5000 mile update and they mentioned there was no new update. I had brake squeal for a short time around 3000 miles. Since than, its been quiet.

Would you be willing to take a picture of your Version and post it. Eric (GM for Ed Martin Toyota) has contacted the Rep but needs the screen shot as the rep said the version were the same.

The version of my toyota car software?

Yes, If you go into settings/software update and there's a blue bar/icon that go to a screen with your current versions. There are several pages and I not sure which one is relevant.

Thank you in advance!

Where do you hail from in MD? I have peeps in LaPlata.

I had to take a video since there's a ton. Each litle section has a header with what I presume identifies the part/software for the subsequent info. Here's what I got:

HU = Version 1861
CDD8= Version 3080
VRD8= Version 1030
SYS/CAN = Version 1006
SEC = Version 1000
VP = Version 1030
MET = Version 1002

My versions in BOLD (I have a 2024 FE purchased May 2024) and do NOT have the sidebar:
HU = Version 1810
CDDB= Version 2939
VRDB= Version 1028
SYS/CAN = Version 1005
SEC = Version 1000 (SAME)
VP = Version 1030 (SAME)
MET = Version 1002 (SAME)

From what I can tell by searching on other Toyota forums, the systems are as follows:
HU = Head Unit
CDDB= CD Database (I.e. GraceNote)
VRDB= Voice Recognition Database
SYS/CAN = System Controller Area Network Bus
SEC = Security
VP = ??
MET = ?? meters maybe??

Did this info ever get passed on to Eric…curious if he had any more input? Thanks

Bumping this thread... Has anyone had any luck updating their infotainment software? I brought this up with my dealer at the 15K service, but was told that it requires the "diagnostics" team to get engaged and would delay the service significantly. Gave up and decided to take this up some other time.

I went to the dealership last week for my 5k and the brake issue, and they didn't have an update available for the infotainment system.

This is all interesting because our 2025 4Runner with the smaller screen has the side bar and the optional expand / contract button at the top left of the Carplay screen.

My late '24 GX 550 came with the side bar installed and my '23 LX 600 seems to have gotten an automatic update at some point.

LC last to the the party. Also sucks that they gave it normal USBC ports QC / PD ports that 24+ Tacomas and 25+ 4Runners have.

The USB version has to be 2.0. I had to try a few thumb drives until I found one that the vehicle would accept.

I just tried again now. Downloaded my .json file from my 2024 LC FE and searched for firmware. Said I had the latest version already even though Ive never gotten an update and still don't have the sidebar. Wish I could force the update, but the site won't give me files to download unless it detects my versions is older and needs update.

Seems like the sidebar is unique to 25’s and whatever version they are running. I’ve stopped trying to figure it out at this point.
I have zero experience with Toyotas, so maybe that is the case, but at least in the BMW world, they keep systems in parity.

I had a 2022 Lexus with basically the same multimedia set up and in the two years I owned it only one update was released. I don’t see any updates coming for the Land Cruiser.
