99' 4 Runner, 24 LC premium
Hello all, just wanted to share that I upgraded the sound system on my 24' LCLC Premium. I got the BeatSonic preamp ENA-3T3 installed by BeatSonic several months ago. That alone did enhance the sound and the base significantly. It was well worth the price. The BeatSonic unit allows you to easily connect the extra amp and subwoofer which I just installed several weeks ago. When BeatSonic installed the preamp they ran the RCA cable and blue wire to my hatch so it was practically plug and play from there. My coworker/buddy installed the amp/sub and recommended the components I purchased since he has a similar setup in his pickup and it sounds great. We tapped into the battery in the rear for power and tucked the amp in the space between the hybrid battery and back of the rear seats.

I got the JL Audio H0110-W6v3 10” sub with Ported Enclosure (200-600 watt ) and the JL Audio XDM300/1 (300w single channel) amp.

OK so the unusual thing about this setup is that the amp had to come with a separate volume knob in order to work properly. When you turn the stereo volume up the subwoofer volume does not go up. Beatsonic made it very clear to me that the JBL system in the LC's required this separate volume knob and an amp that had a separate volume knob to work properly. I wasn't really sure if the volume knob simply acted as a gain control knob or if was, in fact, needed because the sub output wouldn't be controlled by the LC stereo volume knob. Regardless we installed the knob in the blank slot right above the phone charging ports/to the right of the Engine start button (see pic). It doesn't really bother me that the sub volume is completely independent of the stereo volume knob. In fact it's nice to be able to change the sub volume so easily with each song. I'm extremely grateful that Beatsonic made it very clear that the amp had to have that separate volume knob.

With that said....the bass is really nice. The caveat is I that I listen to a lot of 80s-90s modern rock (I'm Gen X...what can I say) and that music doesn't really feature a lot bass. My reggae stations however really pop with the sub. The whole setup wasn't cheap but ever since I got my first car at 18 I wanted an enclosed subwoofer so I said "what the hell".

Last thing i wanted to add is that I do wonder if maybe I should've gotten the 12" sub and/or a more powerful amp. My buddy said no "I shouldn't get the 12" sub" because it'll be overkill and that the 10" should be more than enough bass. I don't know if the 12" sub would've definitely required a more powerful amp or not.
