275/70/18 Fuel Economy

I’d be interested to know if it fits under there. I know the 285/75s don’t really fit, and most think the 275/70 is the biggest that does comfortably.

Recommend you at least plus that up to a 275, or at least a 265. It would be a definite limp home on a 245.

Well, I switched up and run 285/75/18’s on the BBS Wheels. I like them, mileage is running right around 18.

I ran the same tire on my diesel GMC, they run great and wear well.

Did you add a lift too? Wondering how those tires fit with the +47.5 offset and if you've got any rubbing. Would love to see some photos!

Edit- I see you have the OME kit now. Would still love to see some updated photos though.

Understandable- those are sweet wheels, with great tires installed on a great vehicle.

I had zero trouble fitting the spare tire on my '26 - 275/70/18's. It does not hang down too low either, compromising lowering the departure angle.

I average about 18.5 at 2,500 miles and E rated Nokians. They're a 53 pound tire on stock 18's.

I average around 18-18.5 with E rated toyo at3 at 35 psi. I have 22,000 miles on them now and its consistent. However when I go 55-65mph it ups the mpg to 19-20. Anything over 65 on the freeway and it drops quickly. At 77mph it is about 17 mpg. Most of the freeway I drive is at 75mph hence the 18 mpg.

Seeing pretty much the same. I did put in a JB4, but does not seem to have impacted fuel mileage, but definitely pulls stronger when needed.

285/75’s aren’t fitting in the spare location, so I need to figure that out. I carry around a compressor and plug kit just in case, but that’s not a long term solution

Exactly what I'm trying to assess and weigh out. There are a few (VERY few) 275 tires in SL. Hoping someone on here has them on and can comment.

I have 275/70r18 SL load Grabber A/T X on the TRD +45 offset wheels and 275/70r18 E load Blizzaks on my stock 18" +60 offset wheels for snow and ice. I find the SL load to work better with the LC IMO. Not as heavy and stiff as the E load. I am looking at the new Pirrelli A/T tires in SL and thinking about swapping the Grabbers for the Perrelli's. I'm not crazy about the Grabbers but there were 3 choices when I had purchased my rig in 2024. I see a few more choices now. I'm considering putting the 285/70R17 in SL or C load on my four wheels with a 265/70R18 spare because they are the same diameter. the 285/65R18s that I tried were not tall enough and although the same diameter as the 265/70R18 tire the width made the spare hang down too low IMO. I really wish that Toyota had kept the barn door rear tire carrier but alas, no.

For winters, I'm on the stock 18's with Toyo Observe GSi6 275/70/18 in an SL. For summer, I ended up going with Toyo OC AT3 EV SL in 275/70/18 +30 a little under a year ago. Pretty happy with the results:

Mine fits fine and doesn’t hang low like the 285 would. I’ve seen em wedged in there and they have zero departure angle.

Nokian Hakapaletta 275/70/18 LT3s on stock rims. Spare fits fine.

Running the Terra grappler G3’s 275/70/18’s in SL. Handles just about the same as stock. Just a tad louder. mpg seems to be close to the same View attachment 21630

Can I ask if the wheels you're running are the Tundra wheels (PT960-34220-2F)? Looks really nice. Does it fit LC250 without any issues?

I took my 25 LC/LC on its first road trip on Saturday. I have OEM size SL rated Toyo AT3's on Trailhunter 18" wheels. I do have the Westcot leveling kit. Left with 1400 miles on it and drove from Pittsburgh to Raleigh. Never went above 72 mph. Mix of flat and mountains. I got 19.2 mpg. Was hoping to get low to mid 20's because I wasn't pushing it hard at all. So, in reality, this gets the same mileage as what our old 2014 Honda Pilot EX-L AWD got, except that took 87. This is 19 on premium. Oh well. My wife's CR-V hybrid is what we normally take on longer road trips. That gets 30+ on regular. I did love driving this thing though!!!! I don't care about the mileage....it was just my first test past 1000 miles. Now I'll put the mileage meter back to the turbo indicator

My guess is your mileage will improve as you get a few more miles on it. Mine did. That said, I don't know the weight of those Trailhunter wheels vs stock. My JAOS 18's are about the same.

I've stopped caring, but as stated above, best to check against GPS. The Nitto G3 275/70/R18's really aren't that much bigger than the stock tires. Not unexpectedly, GPS and vehicle readings are pretty close, so I don't think that's effecting MPG. I'm still running between 19.5 and 20.5. Removing the top rails on the roof rack this weekend. Although some have reported mpg improvement by doing that, it's not why I'm removing. Tired of them bouncing off signs as I pull into my parking garage for work!
