2025 LC - Fuel Smell on Oil Dipstick

5w30 is what I plan on running next oil change to compare oil tests. It should provide some protection from fuel shear and I live in the Rockies and do a lot of offroading. Engine in other markets call for higher weight oils depend on your use case.

I’ll add mine to the mix. My commute is very short and doesn’t heat up the oil. Didn’t smell any on the dipstick but 2% fuel. Given my short commute I’m between 3k oil changes and stepping up to 5w-30w to keep the longevity if I need to tow. Idk.

I think they don’t worry about fuel in the oil until it is above 5%…

Wow, this thread has been an eye opener. I was curious so I went and checked my 2026 with 1600 miles. Like a lot of others have posted, my oil has a strong gasoline smell too.

I bought the car with 250 miles, and changed the oil the first time at around 600 miles, using OEM filter and Mobil 1 0w20 hybrid oil. I was planning on changing it every 5000 miles from here on, but this has me wondering if I should change it sooner, or consider other weights ?

I live in the DFW area, so we have a lot of hot weather here.

I bought the car with 250 miles, and changed the oil the first time at around 600 miles, using OEM filter and Mobil 1 0w20 hybrid oil. I was planning on changing it every 5000 miles from here on, but this has me wondering if I should change it sooner, or consider other weights ?

My 1st chg at around 1300 the smell was alarming, 2nd chg at around 4800-5k the smell was still there but not as strong, 3rd at around 10k very faint and to be honest It might have been my imagination.. Waiting on the 4th chg but I can't smell gasoline on the dipstick at all.

If it is stressing you out, oil analysis is very easy with SPEEDiagnostix, especially if you install a Fumoto oil drain valve. You can collect a sample without spilling a drop!
