2025 4Runner to Land Cruiser Anyone?

This is exactly why I was originally going for the 4R. I didn’t want the LC trim and the head unit in the 58 seemed like an insult. After some soul searching and stepping away from my climb up the trim ladder, I decided I should be able to live with it.

6 months and 11k miles later, and with 10k miles driving my passenger princess around in her loaded Sequoia, I have come to realize that I hate those trail cams for daily use, and I despise the huge screen. The 1958 is a vibe for sure, but I think the smaller screen is plenty for most giving it a serious look.

I’ll have to find a 1958 somewhere. Seems like most dealers in my area only have the LC LC trim.

Dealers make more money on the higher trims, I have seen the 26 1958 advertised for about 55 to 56k, that might be a teaser though, I got my 1958 used with 15k and gold warranty for 51k

What area are you in? They are all over the place on the southeast coast. The 26 model years are likely just LC trim heavy to begin the calendar year.

If you’re going new pay attention to the delta between MSRP and invoice. For 2025 it was close to $5k, and I imagine it’s the same now. There is zero reason to buy a 1958 for more than $52k, as the dealer still has a holdback. I paid 55 for mine because I wanted meteor and we had to go out a few hundred miles to get it. My trade was a clear title so I chose to eat the taxable increase for a premium on my trade credit.

We were planning on buying one of the hybrid 4Runners. After a test drive we both got out, looked at each other and said “nope”. We then tried the Land Cruiser. It was a bit too fancy, went with the 1958, love it! The 4Runner felt like being in a cave. Between the all black interior and little windows. The LC provided a much broader visual range and didn’t have that cave like feel. It’s also a lot more comfortable.

We went with the LC trim without premium pkg. I think it’s a good in between option

I hear you on meteor! They’re becoming more available now but they were impossible to find in my area the last 6 months of 2025. Someone backed out same day and we just got lucky. Had to drive 2.5 hours to get it

Rare in the Midwest, most are spoken for or in build stages. I doubt you will get one for 26 for 52, They are seeking used ones for more than that. Look at cars.com, I noticed a used one for 49k with 1500 miles but the title was a lemon

Here in WV we have some 1958s floating around (That is what I bought).

Two draw backs to the 1958 for me were the small screen and no heated outside mirrors. I would have liked both but not a deal breaker.

... I disagree with the stop/start comment above since it doesn’t make any sense. The LC and iforcemax 4Rs don’t have start/stop, and the repeated reference to it only demonstrates the perpetual ignorance some have toward how hybrid vehicles operate.

Or 'zero reason' unless you want meteor shower? Don't know where you are, but markets are quite different with respect to what dealers/will won't do to sell one. There seem to be fewer PCs on lots now that Toyota has ramped up 4R production.

Trying to make sense of your comment regarding stop/start. Are you saying that your LC does not stop/start the engine at stoplights, etc.?

IRT my comment: When someone refers to “stop/start” as a feature (especially IRT a selectable feature) when describing a hybrid vehicle, they are failing to draw a critical distinction between “stop/start” systems and hybrid operation.

Stop/start feature: the engine shuts off and power remains via the 12V battery. ALL propulsion is lost until the engine restarts. It is hell on the battery and starter, and results in a delay between when a person wants to move forward, and when they actually can.

Hybrid “start/stop”: Quite literally what makes a hybrid a hybrid. The IC motor is shut down, but the hybrid battery maintains full electrical/operation of systems. The vehicle operates just like it does with the IC motor making the turns. You can drive forward immediately on your hybrid battery, so no propulsion is lost and it is immediate. There are typically separate starters in the hybrid electronic system to restart the IC motor concurrent to forward momentum.

I could go for hours, but it’s simple. Being able to “deselect/disengage” the LC’s “start/stop feature” is akin to saying “bypass the hybrid portion of my hybrid powertrain,” which is distinct from preventing your conventional IC powertrain from stopping at lights. It’s ignorant.

I explained, but will be more clear for you critical assessment: I ate $4k on cost, but absorbed $3.5k in trade value increase. A deal I made with my small town dealer to get what I wanted from 600 miles away. There were other tangibles, but I simplified. You’re probably right in that some markets are sticking to MSRP… but if the final cost matters, I guarantee some travel on the buyers part will result in a purchase in the bottom 10-20% of that delta.

If I seem short, my apologies. We are in the TN mountains and just got word that one of our pups back home has gone missing. My patience for my own family is out of sheer will power.

I drive a 1958, I don't think you'll miss anything at all. If the interior wasn't all black and had leather, you wouldn't call it a base model. 3-zone climate control, heated seats/steering, front and rear sensors, rear view camera. Everything you need and nothing you don't...

Anyone here switch to the LC from a new 4Runner? Any reason why? Or why not?

Any regrets? How do you like the LC compared to the 4Runner?

I bought 2025 4 runner TRD sport ( no premium) and loved the vehicle with the exception of seats. They are angled horribly with head rest pushing head forward and really uncomfortable…23 mpg and drove really nice with plenty of power for me with the turbo 4 cylinder. I traded for 2025 Land Cruiser and much happier with seats and comfort… Premium package with stock wheels. Gas mileage around 21 mpg highway driving. If yougo 4 runner make sure you get premium package on whatever model you look at.
