I am looking for a portable battery charger for my 2026 LC. First time with a Toyota (Hybrid) so thought i would check. Do I need anything special or just any regular charger? Thanks for the responses!

If you still have the OEM battery, Toyota states not to charge it above 5A. NoCo and others make chargers that fit that criteria, and some are select-able for different battery chemestries should you choose to upgrade the battery in the future and don't want to have to upgrade the charger.

For my 2024 LC LC, I bought NOCO Genius2. It gives 2 amp for charging. So far so good. I would not buy a higher amp charger. Charging is a slow process. You do need an electric socket close by. Right before I drive, I disconnect Genius2. Then when I come back, I reconnect right away. I had to buy an extension cable . I also bought round/ ring type battery connector. So, permanently, ( with a screw), then closed the battery cover in the back of the car. With one end of extension of charging cable sticking out. I crack my back window a little, takes me 3 seconds to pull extension cord out from the back of passenger seat. Then cable from Genius, hanging from my garage opener socket, is hooked up. A white light on Genius tells me right away that charging/ maintaining has started.

My BatteryMINDer has selectable 2, 4, or 8 Amps, and has selections for Flooded, AGM, or Gel. Once the battery is charged, it automatically goes into maintainer mode, continuing to desulphate. I am sure other smart chargers will do the same. This said, really strange a vehicle battery, even a smaller one, would be limited to 5 Amps. Surely the vehicle charges it faster than that? A possibility, the wire gauge from the terminal block to the battery limits that path to 5 amps?

No idea what the weak link is, possibly heat from charging the original flooded lead acid battery? The 5A limit is likely for charging that battery in the vehicle, connected state.

I have a NoCo Genius 10 charger I've owned longer than the Land Cruiser. I am reluctant to use it on the original battery, likely going to get a smaller one to use until I swap that battery out.

10a should be fine as a maintainer, as it drops down to a low float current. You don’t have to connect @ the battery, you can open the hood & connect at the power distribution box on the passenger side.
If you replace your Noco 10 w/ their new Genius 5A it allows you to select lLead-acid, AGM or Lithium type of battery.
