Windshield replacement national back-order?

Using a good marine sealant, put 3/4" plywood on the windshield with a little bitty hole in it for you to look out of.
Seriously though, nothing's going to stop the cracks. Remember there's a laminated sheet in between two pieces of glass for safety. You can put clear tint on the windshield like that ceramic kind of block out the heat but nothing's gonna stop the cracks in my opinion.
That's of people like that ceramic tint but I hate it. It gets so hot to the touch. I did it once and when that sun was shining on the driver's window I would burn my arm if I put my arm up on the windowsill with the glass up. It does block more heat but the downfall is it gets hot from doing that.
Sounds like a gimmick and a rip off.
Been waiting for a new windshield for about a month.
Nice to be forewarned. I just entered the fray with a cracked windshield passenger side. I will patiently expect delays.
I'm going to order about 50 iphone screen protectors and tile them over the windshield.
Seriously though I found this from Gorilla Glass apparently they make windshields for Jeeps. Maybe at some point they'll have a Toyota product?
Bought my LC end of June. 2 months into ownership and I had a tiny stone hit the drivers side corner of the windshield and now have a 8 inch crack across. This past weekend, another small rock hit the passenger side, and now have a star blemish on that side. For a 4x4 that's meant to be all-terrain, this does not feel like it's meant to happen. And discouraging to see so many people already needing replacements. I opened a claim with AAA insurance, Satellite contacted me and said same thing, there is a backorder issue with no current ETA.
How do I get the $0-deductible rider on insurance? I feel like this is going to be a regular occurrence.
Hoping Toyota comes back with a more durable options for an $80K+ vehicle. Not fun to have to worry about this constantly now.

I think the even worse thing to happen going forward is that when insurance company realize how easy the windshield breaks, they are going to raise our already very high premium in order to cover it.
Have you got the new windshield yet? My local Toyota dealer just checked for me and said there were some available at the Houston port. Curious if you had to also get moldings with the new windshield
Had a rock crack my windshield it was replaced right away but had to wait for a new gasket about 6 weeks at that time they were only factory windows to new for after market.

Just got word that my windshield (with HUD) arrived at local dealer's parts dept. This is about a week earlier than their system showed. A total wait of about 6 weeks. Replacement scheduled for tomorrow.
I don't know if it helped, but I had contacted Toyota Brand Engagement about two weeks ago to ask for help. Never heard anything back other than "we're looking into it", but I'd like to believe that maybe they expedited me one...

Mine only took 1 week to get, Toyota in NW Arkansas. Total cost $1796 which included $287 for windshield calibration. I have 1st Edition with the HUD.
