2025 toyota land cruiser
Been over 5 months waiting for a windshield replacement. Very frustrating as I have a huge crack running from driver side to passenger side. Dealer said company wasn’t making replacement shields, only new car shields. Has anyone else heard this??

We are also trying to resolve our replacement front windshield: with both Toyota and the Insurance company

We have two large cracks running from top to bottom on each side: driver and passenger, this happened three weeks ago

The only replacement available is from Toyota - OEM

Reading this forum and taking to Toyota service; the windshield seems to be on backorder - no good answers on a time line

The cost of removal and installation, the new accessories needed, and the recalibration is significant - estimated total ~$3900

hopefully, we will have this resolved in a reasonable amount of time

Safelite has cancelled my appointment twice because they have been unable to get a replacement (OEM) windshield - going on three weeks now…. Seems to be a shortage of replacement glass for LC (2025 model)

Welcome to the Jungle!

Welcome to the asylum LrkB.

Another inmate on this forum recently reported that Toyota USA received ~250 new windshields, stateside. I hope it is true. Have you checked with your dealer?

I cracked my 2024 1958 windshield 6 weeks ago and have been waiting for glass. Glass is finally in. I'm trying to navigate between the dealer who has the glass and Safelite who only orders from another dealer, so I'll work that out. In any event, in chatting with the Safelite folks, they shared that 2025s are on five-month back order. I asked about Broncos and Jeeps and the woman said they are on about a 30-day back order. I wouldn't expect Toyota or dealers to voluntarily disclose this, although seems like a ready-made class action lawsuit.

I have been in contact with Toyota CEO's office for the last two months and now get weekly updates. What was originally a May date for my new windshield then became mid June and then I got this message today: Glass S/A, Windshield L/Moul & Stopper the current ETA is Late June 2025.

Got a crack in my 2024 this week. Only 5500 miles.

I opened up a claim today. I bought the no deductible glass + body damage insurance through the dealer at purchase time, the price was low enough that one use for a windshield would pay for it. We’ll see how long it takes. I looks like they will have me go through safelight.

Has anyone had their windshield replaced by a Toyota dealer and what was the cost? I've been waiting two months for a windshield and keep getting told they are not yet available.

I bought WS insurance from dealer too (they gave me 50% off -since i paid msrp on LC). Curious to see how yours is resolved, hopefully has expedited happy ending.

Once I took photos of the damage, the VIN Plate etc. and sent them in, I heard from Safelight scheduling the next day. They setup an appointment a week out.

However the day after that, they called to cancel it and said it would be 2-3 weeks before a OEM replacement was available due to national backorder.

So, we'll see. If it ends up taking longer than 2-3 weeks I will call Toyota Brand Engagement as some others on here have done (there are a few threads about this on here.)

My state inspection is not due until November so I have some time.

We joined the cracked windshield club today, its kinda funny our other vehicles all have over one hundred thousand miles on them with never a crack. The L.C. has 3900, I know that milage doesn't break or cause broken windshield however I am a concerned about the quality of the glass and at the same time I realize that our windshields are designed with very little slope and that makes them a better target for a rock. I'm thinking of getting a Bullseye repair to the crack if they can do a repair on it at least until more windshields and possibly a better quality one comes along. The crack is about 3/4 " and low on passenger side.

I called a local Bulls Eye company this morning, the owner answered and asked if damage was smaller than a quarter, the answer was yes he scheduled for later today. He came out at 3:30 and repaired it in about thirty minutes for $70 dollars. After the repair the damaged spot looks like I hit a very small bug. I believe that my insurance company would have paid that however i'm not going to get that started. I am very pleased and will try this again next time. I would also not have a problem with a Safelite windshield as long as sensors etc work after installation had the damage been more severe. If this happens to you call them soon and keep water and glass cleaner off from it until its repaired if possible.

Had my windshield replaced by Safelite last week. No it's NOT an OEM Toyota windshield but wasn't forced to wait who knows how long to get one.
I am considering doing this since the OEM is taking g a while. How is the non OEM? If you have heads up display is it still working well?

I’m supposed to take a road trip in 2wks, I think I’ll take my truck after hearing all these stories. I got a surface rock knick (it’s tiny, barely noticeable) and I about had a heart attack when it happened.

This is ridiculous on Toyota’s part. I feel for all of you.

I'm not familiar with Bulls Eye. Who are they? My dealer says the windshield should be here in the next two weeks. We'll see. Long-term I'm very concerned about this happening again. Are these windshields poor quality?

There is a lot of hand-wringing about windshield quality, but this has more to do with the rake angle of the windshield than anything.

The windshield of the Land Cruiser (and many SUVs, especially "boxy" ones) is steeply raked. People who have owned FJ Cruisers or Jeeps are familiar with this issue. The rake angle has more to do with how often you get chips and cracks than anything else, honestly.

Look at the rake angle of a typical passenger car (say, a Camry) and then compare it to the LC. Or a Jeep, FJ Cruiser, etc.

The less the rake angle, the more likely a rock will glance off the windshield without causing damage. The steeper the rake angle, the more likely it is the rock will cause damage because it has less possibility of redirection.

It's just physics.
