Toyota’s solution to CAN bus thefts …

Just chiming in on the cutting the steering wheel to defeat the club locks. Had this happen to me. However the only skill the thief had was that of a trash panda. Cut my steering wheel and destroyed the ignition lock resulting in an entire steering column needing to be replaced. $3k repair on a $4k vehicle. No fun with a $1k deductible.
I’ve always used one of these brake (or clutch) pedal locks when I want extra security. Prevents the pedal from being depressed so the vehicle can’t be put into gear even if they got it started. Not sure if it works other than to say I haven’t had a car stolen yet while this was installed.

I do, but it didn't capture anything the time a neighbor told me someone hopped out of a car and started looking at the back of my LC -- she thought he was trying to steal my license plate, I'm not so sure. She scared them off. And I got a better camera, but even then, at most I'll have a video of kids in a stolen car and hoodies driving off with my Land Cruiser?
